Yes, that really is Jennifer Hudson.
Wow!!!!
This has definitely been her year. The former American Idol alum won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls and she rung in 2008 at the Setai Hotel in Miami Beach.
Next year promises to be just as good for Hudson. The entertainer is returning to her singing roots by releasing her debut album.

Re: sandy – For whatever reason, she had to put on weight to play Effie. Apparently, in Dreamgirls, Effie can't just be difficult, she also has to be overweight. Jennifer Holliday, the original Effie on Broadway was huge. I also saw Frenchie from American Idol in the role.
