Britney's brother, Bryan Spears, is on his way to Los Angeles to be with the mentally unstable former pop star, People is reporting.

Spears' father, Jamie, is currently keeping the mother of two company at the hospital, where she is on suicide watch and under psychiatric evaluation.

As much as everyone bashes/makes fun of/gossips about Britney, I really think this is pretty serious. Yeah the drawings and photos are funny of her and her "Crazyness", but still, this girl has soo many problems, and as many people that there are who take pictures of her you think they would try to get through to her and tell her to get some help! Perez, be nice. "Mentally unstable FORMER pop star"? She may be off her fuckin rocker but is obviously still a pop star. She had one of the best dance albums released in all of 2007 and a couple of hit singles to boot (so far). We're clearly not talking about the most talented vocalist of all time here, but Britney's got a knack for making herself (or having producers make her) more artistically relevant than somebody like Christina Aguilera, who clearly failed in her efforts to make an artistic record with her double disc failure.

i haven't understood why she wasn't put on a psychiatric 72 hour hold (that's what i've heard them called always, i've been put on those before but am perfectly well now) long before this. she isn't a drug addict, she is extremely mentally ill. to the point she needs to be hospitalized. for a length of time. somebody please make sure she stays in treatment, treatment that she legally canNOT leave. she is a very very sick person.

She isn't a "former" pop star. Her new CD is her best one yet and she still makes the charts. Nothing former about that. This is a chemical imbalance …mentally she is at her bottom. I hope she gets the help she needs for her real problems. Most mis-diagnosed mental problems often first get treated as substance abuse problems when the person only uses because they don't know what to do since they can't think straight. My guess is that this was all brought on hormonally due to back to back births, stress of marriage, career, the troubles with child custody, family & so on. Please take it easy on the girl. It is hard for her to help herself in this type of situation in fear of being scrutinized for the world to see and if she can't recognize what her problems are.

Where was her family? My mother would have beat the daylights out of me if I flashed my cooch, drove around staying in hotels with unknown men, mismanaged my kids, etc… It's ok for Osama Lutfi and Alli Sims to go in and out of her life because all they want is her money, but a FAMILY is supposed to be the ultimate support system. I think it was irresponsible of Britney's fam to leave Britney to her own devices and to allow her to figure things out on her own.

Perez, why call her a former pop star? Her album will go platinum (at least) and "Gimme More" climbed to #3 on Billboard's Hot 100. And now "Piece of Me" is currently #21 on the "Pop" and "Hot 100" charts. She's not even promoting anything, and she still remains relevant in today's music market. I would say she's still a star.
