Spears Not On Drugs???

When police entered Britney Spears' home last night, they noted that she appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
However, Life & Style magazine is claiming that Brit Brit was not on drugs Thursday evening, when she had her meltdown.
“Her blood test just came back, and, thank God, it was clean. There are no traces of drugs or alcohol of any kind,” Osama Lutfi a source close to the Spears family tells Life & Style.
They're able to get blood tests back from a lab in a matter of hours???? During the middle of the night!!
We find that highly suspicious.
Did they test for prescription pills??????

Actually, hospitals can test blood work that fast…if they can test and give HIV results in a matter of hours…they can sure test for drugs in a matter of hours…

How do you think ERs are able to give people blood transfusions in the middle of the night without matching their blood types or evaluate suspected heart attacks at 2 AM without a lab? If she had a complete mental breakdown, as Alexis Teresacheck from US Weekly is reporting, then she would have been acting erratic, as if she was on drugs, going from extreme manic highs (hysterical laughter) to extreme lows (sobs) within the manner of minutes. It may have been a psychotic break.

A urine toxicology screen, the standard test for substances of both the legal and illegal variety, does come back in a matter of hours. This tests for, among other things, opiates, THC, barbiturates, benzodiazepenes, tricyclics, amphetamines,… which covers most legal/illegal things. A serum (blood) test is used for alcohol, and that comes back immediately.

Yeah, believe it or not those labs can do blood work pretty quickly, even though usually they're slow at doing it. I really don't think she was on drugs; I think she's really just snapped, and I'm really glad to hear that she'll be getting the help she needs.

I went to the hospital 3 months ago because of an allergic reaction and they took a blood test and it came back in less then an hour!
When you visit a family doctor and take a blood test it takes a couple of business days…however in the emergency room everything is taken and tested for ASAP….

Yes you can results in the middle of the night…geez this is a Medical Center. Drug Screens are run off a urine sample and take about 20 minutes.

fyi, hospital labs are open 24 hours a day, as people don't take the night off from becoming sick. and blood tests for drugs can be done very quickly.

You can check an blood alcohol level in about an hour. A urine drug screen takes about the same and includes tests for cocaine, amphetamines, opiates (found in most prescription drugs), marijuana, benzos, and barbituates at minimum. But you can't test for crazy

Um…. YES Perez, they can get blood results in about an hour…. they wouldn't really be able to treat her with any medication if they didn't know what she had already taken….. The only reason that a blood test would take a couple of days is if it wasn't an emergency….. i guess it was an emergency.

Blood tests take minutes. Hospitals do it that fast all the time.
Actually you can get results back in a few hours, especially if its just the standard 5 drug screen (marijuana, opiates, cocaine, alcohol and benzos). The panel 17 takes a little bit longer, but it can be done.

Preliminary drug and alcohol tests do come back rather quickly. So its not surprising that the doctors ordered a rush on the tests in order to determine a course of treatment.

Blood tests only do take a couple of hours when on emergency call, and the police can authorise that. Most of my blood tests come back in a couple of hours due to my condition. Drugs and Alcohol are easier to test for than most other virus, genetic conditions and even white blood cell counts. Educated yourself first!

yes they can! I work at a hospital. Most everyone that comes in the ER is given a blood test immediately to test for illegal substances. They have to see what's in your system before they can give you medication. However if I was in her family I'd wish she was on something, at least that would be an excuse for her craziness!!!

In that short of time they can test for specific drugs - there is probably a continuing test which will return more broad results. But most likely, if the first preliminary test (drug, php, etc.) came back neg, the rest will as well. But what is worse? A drug addiction, or mental illness?

Really, though, blood tests don't test for everything. It's rare they test for LSD. Lufti also said that she wasn't taking her bipolar meds every single hour. There is no such thing as an hourly bipolar medication. She was on Provigil. Missing a dose of it won't cause such erratic behaviour. They recently are using it to help treat bipolar disorder in conjunction with ADHD, but only give out about 200mg once a day. Not hourly doses like this moron is claiming.

Often times, when someone is having a psychotic break, it will look like drugs. My guess is that she is bipolar with psychotic features. Their delusions are less bizarre than a schizophrenics, yet they are bizarre nonetheless. Many times those who are bipolar will abuse drugs or alcohol when they are in the depressive phase because they want to get back to the mania. Mania. supposedly, feels pretty good. Certainly far better than being depressed. I think this is why we see Britney partying so much, she is trying to self medicate. Other times, when we see her acting strangely, it isn't alcohol or drugs. It is just the disorder which seems more severe in her than many other celebrities who have this diagnosis and cope with it. Stress can trigger a break. I think we have seen her have a few breaks under stress. It is very hard to 5150 someone. We all know she is disturbed, but she is really falling apart right now. Poor girl.
They can get test results back right away if they need too. Especially if someone being admitted into an ER.

Most hospitals try to get people out of the ER asap to free up beds for other patients, and the only way to do that is to get results back quickly. Add a celebrity into the equation, and you've got results in no time at all…
