Australian sweethearts Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns are getting divorced.
Sad.
The couple just released the following statement, announcing their split.
"While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly.
However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us.
We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together.
We have issued this statement to set the record straight and to eliminate any need for speculation.
We will not be making any further public statements whatsoever in regard to this very private matter and politely ask that people respect our sincere wishes in this regard."

No surprise there. Saw a pic of them together over Christmas and was surprised they were still in that sham of a marriage. They saw each other like 3 weeks a year! He's so gay, and very weird (ala Michael Jackson) he needs to come out of the closet.
Holy shit!!! I read this and now I'm going to be depressed all day. I loved them as a couple. I don't think his getting married has anything to do with what he writes. And very little of it is sappy love bullshit. Most of it still has nothing to do with love. Plus, I love the new stuff anyways, I love every new album.
If any of you knew Daniel, you'd know that he is not weird. He is about as normal as they come and is very committed to his friends and family. He is not about the celebrity bullshit and would prefer to hang out with his friends instead of vying for a photo-op. So far as the gay rumors… they are as true or false as any celebrity out there. I think every damn one of them has experimented with all kinds of things as they are ARTISTS. So far as the average person's need to label someone's sexuality…. whatever makes you feel safe, folks.

They were far apart for too long, at too many times, for alot of the year during Silverchair's tours and I saw Natalie hanging out backstage with other band members at the Reading festival in the UK a couple of years ago and Daniel was nowhere in sight. I actually thought they had split ages ago, because Natalie was always hanging out in London and not with her husband, which was odd. Now we all know why. They were such a hot couple and had been together for years, so it's hard for both of them.

For the last year, they both have been sporadically wearing their wedding rings. She bases herself in the UK but never seems to actually do anything with her music career. She is always photographed with either Daniel, looking miserable and moody at him, or with some new guy on her arm (apparently always just a friend). He is mostly in Australia actually making music and touring. I noticed her wasn't wearing his wedding ring at the Aria awards a few months back and thought it was a bit odd he'd be a focal point of the evening, but not worry about the speculation it would cause if he didn't wear it.
