Dr. Phil Cancels Britney Show!
The TV doc had planned to air a special about Britney Spears, but has now decided to shelve it.
Phil just issued the following statement to Entertainment Tonight:
"As was widely reported this weekend, at the request of concerned family members, I visited Britney Spears in the hospital. The details of that visit will, of course, remain private. We had planned to tape a 'Dr. Phil Now' show tomorrow, focusing not on the tabloid side of Britney’s latest problems, but instead on the very serious issues surrounding this case. Clearly, it is not just Britney's family struggling to find a way to protect adult children who cannot be ordered or compelled to seek help. Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time. Britney and her family are in our prayers and we ask that they be in yours."
It probably didn't help the Doc that Britney's parents pulled out of being on the show!

Dr. Phil is the biggest media whore I've ever seen. He's so full of shit, yeah he cancelled because the situation was too intense with Britney, blah, blah, blah..fuck that! He knows Britney and her lawyers would sue the living shit out of him. He'll probably end up sued along with the hospital for the stunt that was pulled..dare I say it..this time I'm on Britney's side! Fuck Dr. Phil and fuck Cedars Sinai for exploiting Britney.

Dr. Phil is borderline despicable most of the time, so it is not surprising that he would thrust his unwelcome presence into a situation which needs anything BUT more intrusiveness. As appears the case with many of Harpo's experts / commerical underlings (see "Adams, Jan, Dr.?"), Dr. Phil was not an overly ethical member of his profession before becoming famous as a member of that profession - check the history of complaints and regulatory sanctions levied against him while a practicing "professional" in Texas. Either his ego has grown even larger than his bear-sized head, or he is just a Nancy Grace-calibre dirtbag preying on misery, creatiing sensation, and perhaps influencing the vulnerable to just go ahead and kill themselves. Hopefully there is a backlash.
