Thankfully our TVs won't be filled exclusively with reality programs these coming months.
As the writers strike continues to drag on, the broadcast networks are faced with the dilemma of filling the void from their missing shows.
In many instances, that means a lot of shitty TV. But, CBS has just announced plans to air 12 episodes of cult Showtime show Dexter, starring Michael C. Hall.
Good move!
Maybe they will start importing shows from the U.K.???
Fox should totally air Skins! And Little Britain would do well for NBC!

This is such a great move for CBS! Dexter is an amazing show. But how much violence, sex and cursing can they fit into the show? Will a censored Dexter even be Dexter?

The caucasian guy in the picture is a terrific actor. Was in 6 Feet Under. To me he is one of the best actors in the States.

I think ABC, NBC, CBS, and the rest would be wise to "think outside the box" (as they are always saying) and start shopping for programming from all the great indie shorts and features that have been done in the last few years. They could poll jury members from the top 10-20 film festivals and get tons of great ideas. The film makers will get paid, the audience will have new, fresh shows, all the writing has been done. It's a win-win. That said, I still hope the WGA gets a good settlement.
perez, you should check out Catherine Tate if your interested in UK comedy, waaaay better then Little Britain.

I want to recommend Dexter to everyone who hasn't seen it yet, but the edited version just will not do justice. This is a show that works on the level it does because of risky, violent content. Not to mention the tremendous acting, amazing plots that are sheer genius, the sexy-as-hell Michael C. Hall, etc. Oh, well. Watch it anyways because everything else on at this time will be shit in comparison. Dexter is that good. I can't wait to see how CBS edits Deb. She has a foul mouth, and I love it.

I'm all for the re-runs on CBS, but they should never even consider moving it to CBS (even though I know they're not). It would suck if they had to tone it down for primetime. With Dexter, they need to leave well enough alone and keep it on Showtime for future seasons.
"Dexter," is one of the most, if not THE most, intelligent and well-plotted tv shows on the small screen right now. I am so ecstatic to learn that they will be back this season, thanks for reporting, Perez!

Fox needs to import the original British version of "The IT Crowd" and "Peep Show." Those are the two best television shows in either the U.S. or Britain, bar none.

As far American Comedies being funny… The most popular one in the last 10 years has been Everyone Loves Raymond, which is regularly buried in a breakfast time slot over here.
Anyway, yes American's could start to watch some non American produced shows for once, and see how its really done instead of remaking our stuff and screwing it up. Doctor Who promoted from Sci-Fi to NBC mebbe?
You need some great stuff like Peep Show, Black Books, Shameless, Spaced and our Quizcoms (quiz comedies) like QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Mock The Week.
May as well, you already have loads of British actors in your TV shows (Journeyman, Lost, Bionic Woman, Craig Ferguson, John Oliver on The Daily Show) and most of your popular reality shows were created by us (American Idol, America's Got Talent, Dancing with The Stars, Survivor, Dance War, Supernanny, Wife Swap) Its about time our dramas and comedies took over too.

I think anyone who would air Skins would REALLY generate some ratings! They could generate so much media attention — it'd totally work. The first series was SO good! Once I got past the crazy british slang, I was hooked.
