Another casualty of the writers' strike and big media's unwillingness to negotiate.

A tipster writes in….
"One of the things I think is GREAT is that you report on MANY business aspects of the industry that have an affect on everyone out here. I'm not sure if you heard about this yet, but as of 6pm last night, Axium (one of the few MAJOR payroll companies for the entertainment industry) told it's employees to gather their personal things, stop what they were working on and leave the building. They have shut their doors. Axium has branches all over the world: New York, Louisiana, London etc… If you call any of those offices today you will only get a message saying that their offices are closed. This is going to have a HUGE impact on the industry. MANY MANY tv shows, feature films, reality shows etc… use Axium to pay their employees AND actors. Anyone working on a show that gets their payroll from Axium can no longer count on their paychecks showing up. To top this all off, NO ONE (not Variety, Hollywood Reporter etc…) is reporting on this. The major players around town DO know about it (I know one major company in town is VERY aware of what is going on but is NOT volunteering the information to their employees since they're afraid they'll stop working) but have no further information. This is going to have a MAJOR impact on the industry."
We've tried calling Axium but have been unable to get through to anyone in any of their offices.
As VB would say, this is mayjah!

I wish all these money hungry bastards can get on with it already.
I'm sick of missing my shows because these rich fuckers won't give the writers what they deserve!!
Reruns and reality shows get old REAL quick!
PS. 13th?
sucky!
FIRST! ha
Yes, always blame the company. It seems to me the greed of the writers is more to blame. How many people have lost their jobs due to their greed? How many events will be cancelled because of their greed? I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for these people. I hope they all get fired right before christmas (Next year of course)
Nick Jonas is a TROLL!!!! Stop hating on Miley. How is she remotely slutty?
sorry to hear about that. quit whining, though. how about the rest of the country that is having trouble? overpaid bitches bitchin. thats all you guys do

I agree with the writers however I hope they negotiate. I can't wait to see my favorite shows back on the air. After this strike they better come up with amazing lines for the shows have been put on hold.
Re: Mindmesh –
You're a douche
most tv writers make over $200,000 yet they wont work forcing many(lesser paid individuals) to lose jobs because $200,000 just isnt enough. Why does anyone support these extreemly selfish writers?
STFU already you whiny ass babies. The GREEDY WRITERS are causing this - wanting to be paid 100 times over for their work so they can make a living while they are NOT working (gee wouldn't we all LOVE that!!).
That is interesting news, but at least in California, there are very very strict payroll laws by which the company will have to abide. Its not as though there is no money - there is just no one processing it. The clients will merely go to another payroll company - few days of confusion will probably be the only impact.
Pay the writers! This is a big deal and its sad to see how many people are really affected by the big companies greed. Good for all the big name actors for supporting thier writers. I hope they start talking here soon…..
I hope the writers take comfort in what they are doing! It has far reaching consequences
What the writers are asking for is not at all unreasonable. There would be no shows, no movies, nothing without them. The writers deserve one of, if not the BIGGEST cuts of the money.
Afterall, all the actor do is read the WRITERS material.
Re: obsessed – Oh really are you prepared to pay for your YouTube and other internet videos? Because that's what this will come to.
Please do not report on things that are not true. Axium going under has nothing to do with the writers strike. It is an investor that pulled out taking his money with him.
It aint got nought to do with writers, actors etc, you will see………….. da head honcho has been a little forgetfull in submitting his payroll taxes for many months to the tune of over $100 million ……….oops…… Just wait and see…try looking up the financial background of the CEO. Many small production houses are going to be screwed and will probably go under…..Greedy Bastard
The writers were getting 4 cents for online media, and they want 8 cents! (How is that being paid 100 times over?) How can you call the writers greedy when the producers are making TONS OF MONEY from the advertising space online?
The PRODUCERS SUCK and are waaaaay too greedy. WGA has made individual agreements with several production companies, which shows they are willing to negotiate.
I hope the writers are sleeping well at night!! What they are doing has far reaching consequences!
Re: Mindmesh – tahts stupid how would you feel if the things you were writing were being published, and all you got paid for was for writing it while every one else is getting money off of dvd's movie sales etc…
Damn, Poor people they fighting for there rights to live.
This is a response to #13 and everyone else who seems to think the writers are overpaided babies…
Contrary to what you seem to believe writers DO NOT make good money. Its the rare few that actually make a lot of money. If you want to talk about greed talk about the companies that employ the writers. The ones who pull in millions and billions of dollars, the ones who make money off syndicating shows and just regular broadcasting, the ones who make way more then what they should. Without writers these shows would be nothing. You need to start with a script before you can do anything. And a good script makes a good show, a good show makes the MONEY.
Writers are not being treated fairly and are NOT being paid fairly. They deserve the wages they are asking for…
this is the 'companies' fault. Not the writers…
Re: me – you dont know what you are talking about
