The singer came in second on American Idol, losing out to Taylor Hicks, who also recently was dropped by his label, as was other Idol champ Ruben Studdard.
The Idol machine is failing.

I always believed from the very beginning that American Idol only produces a sound that is a dime a dozen these days. They aren't really producing something that is unique or worthwhile.

Hello Perez! I never left a comment before but when it comes to Idol, I MUST. It's not American Idols' fault these people don't do good after the show ends. Most of them never should have been the winners or runners up anyway. I think the upcoming season is going to be as fun as the past ones have as long as we don't have any of that Sanjayah BS….kisses***

american idol needs to just get off the air because how entertaining is it really? it's a waste of everyone's time and only really benefits the judges who we all need to admit we are so sick off (simon is a rude smart ass who doesn't seem to deserve to be that way (unlike janice dickinson who actually had a successful career and therefore knows what you need to make it), paula is a hasbeen crackhead/alcoholic/whateverdrug-ic, and the fat black guy forgot his name because he is just that significant.
i think the actual contestants may have had a slight shot (because they don't suck) if they just tried to work with coaches and what not but not wasted time believing they could make it through this stupid contest. all it really does is makes listeners and record labels take them less seriously (like most people tend to do with people who have been on reality shows) and having been on a reality show such as american idol is hard thing to reverse to improve an image.

American Idol needs to just stop. there is no real talent on the show, people just fall for the person who happens to sing the best in that select few chosen to be seen by the public. I am actually kinda sick of them ruining the music industry slowly with crap music. where have the true artists gone ? Martin, Sinatra, People who can last and sustain a music career. It's all one of two hit wonders these days… it's sad.. we are not going to have any Music Legends… when the current legends start to die off.

It ain't Idol's fault that no one wants to buy these kid's records, they just suck. Idol is a great show and franchise though. Just think Perez, you should start "American Glory Hole", that way you would have a better reason to suck!

I was a little surprised, but not shocked. In as BEAUTIFUL as she is/was, there's NOTHING special about the voice:( Note to myself: AI is DONE AND OVER WITH! The first couple years was more about singing and less about the FAKERS who just wanted to be on TV. It's taken me a couple seasons (too many) to face the reality that it's more about the 'tweens, 'fakers & product placement than about talent. Reminder to myself: NEVER 'EVER' tune in (and end up getting hooked) to AI again! Even cheap entertainment has it's price, and I promise not to sink so low again. I'd rather watch paint dry, because at least that's real, as apposed to the 'bogus voting system being sold/force fed to the masses. And I know the show will never limit 1-vote per number/person, because it's all about how much they can charge for the number of viewership perported ("last night America cast 50-million votes") Sounds good to sponsors, but for it in no way represents the audience volume/numbers, but it sounds good so they run with it. Besides; who in their Right Mind would want to have to endure the RETARD that is Paula Abdule ONE MORE SECOND!?!
The only good part of American Idol is the beginning couple of episodes, where all they show are the really bad people, because it makes you laugh. After that its just boring. Anyway, Katharine McPhee was actually decently good, I have a couple of her songs.
The show is so over. The best part would be to see the horrible ones make it to the end. It really doesn't matter any more where one places - Daughtry, Hudson.

Unfortunately they don't have the right songs. They are talented but have no showcase. Look at Daughtry… he knew what he wanted and went out and got it. He's very lucky that he didn't win Idol. They probably would have had him singing showtunes or some type of pop shit. I don't think they (the Idol execs) will allow enough artistic freedom for these singers to really blossom.

Darn! Her album was a solid effort. I bought it and really like it. In my opinion, she goofed big-time in not releasing "Each Other" as a lead single. I hope she gets another record deal with another company. As far as Idol, they need to change the format, where callers can only cast ONE vote, instead of calling in multiple votes. That would correct the voting problems where contestants like Daughtry and others were inexplicably eliminated too early, and restore credibility to the contest. Though I strongly believe that McPhee deserved to come in near the top!
Who cares if Fantasia can't make it on time to her broadway show - she can sell some albums!!! She has been quite successful if not MORE successful than Carrie Underwood (who is still my girl because we are both from Oklahoma!) but what has Carrie done outside of drop two albums? As far as I am concerned the ladies rule AI Kelly, Fantasia, and Carrie! They are the biggest success stories.

I'm sad they didn't give her more of a chance! Some great talent has come from AI, Kelly Clarkston, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, Elliot Yamin, and my personal current favorite Jordin Sparks.

Good she sucked..i never did like her…The only reason half of these people win or come close to winning american idol is not because they are "stars" it is because people get wrapped up in the hype and the excitement of it all and it is nothing but a big popularity personality contest…when the hype of the season is over, the "winners" of the show go back to being nobodys.

She may have been dropped, but she's working on her second album with DAVID FOSTER, and has a MOVIE coming out in the summer, as well as THREE OTHER MOVIES that she has signed on to be in..including one directed by the COEN BROTHERS.

Can't wait for American Idol to begin again! Love the show - love watching the final 10 improve (or not!) each week. Love Simon, Randy (Dog) is OK even if he is a little "pitchy" - tolerate Paula when she is too nice and too loopy. Dislike the initial auditions when they make fun of obviously disturbed, "several notes short of a scale" and vulnerable/fragile kids. I think it is great that the people get to vote on who they want to hear and it is not left up to some record company executives to decide what we want to hear. In addition, all record labels are having problems now. I think they are marketing to the wrong audience.

I "stopped out" and quit watching idol for the third and fourth season and then came back for the Daughtry season and last season. Were it not for Blake Lewis last season, I don't think I would have kept watching at all. The biggest problem with Idol is that they are just looking for singers (and belters at that) rather than performing artists. I firmly believe that if made Idols sing their own songs, even just once, they may get better results when it came to CD sales. And if they made them perform with a band? That might lead to good concert sales.
I will tune into AI7 because I'm hoping they'll get a clue and figure out that the audience really does need to know the contestants.
