Blah Blah Blah. He was "invited", so in other words there were no patient confidentiality forms signed between them and he's not her doctor. I don't see any HIPAA violations here.
If "Dr" Phil were an actual doctor of pyschology he would know that what he did by even discussin his visitation with Britney Spears was against dr/patient confidentiality. He would also realize that someone in her condition could in no way benefit from seeking treatment that would take place on his phony show. She obviously has severe mental health issues and should not be taking advice from a man, who obviosuly needs help himself. If the Spears were smart they would strike up a lawsuit and make Dr. Phil pay for his immoral/illegal behavior. How can people call him a Dr?

Dr. Phil is an publicity whore. They should have never contacted him. As for the rest of the family - they all need to take a good look in the mirror. If the parent's cared at all about their kids they would say - we are removing ourself from the public eye, no more interviews and magazine covers until we get our life back under control.
It's true that a therapist is not supposed to talk to anyone about a meeting with a client, unless A) it is for supervision by other therapists or B) the person is threatening to hurt themselves or others, in which case the therapist has to go to the police. That said, what were they thinking getting Dr Phil???? there are no other therapists that could talk to her? duh. of course the guy is gonna exploit her-just like they did! people got some bills to pay!!!!

dr. phil wasn't there to act as a psychiatrist, but to facilitate an intervention. when dad, brother and dr. phil all finally got to see brit at the hospital and realized it was lithium she needed and not rehab, it was a moot point.
they might have known that before, if lynn had allowed the rest of the family to have access to her before, but lynn had to protect her cash cow. now that brit is of no use to her, she didn't bother showing up at the hospital and is attacking anyone who did for her own publicity.
you don't have to like dr. phil at all to see what the real story is here. someone with mental health problems whose been milked for money and power by evil people around her and now all that's left is a shell. lynn now realizes the only way she can gain access to the estate is to maintain her control. that's what the today show thing was about.
Dr.Phil is a complete disgrace to the entire psyciatric profession and moreover he's a piece of human garbage! This proves it. I knew he'd fuck up at some point and get knocked off his perch.
If anything good comes out of this whole tragedy with Britney it might be that Dr.Phil's ratings and book sales take a plunge. And the people who buy his products and support his phoney rhetoric will finally see him for what he really is. If you think Dr.Phil is a good guy, go look up what's written about his inapropriate conduct back when he practiced in Texas!
This spokesperson did a fantastic job here. I am happy for the Spears family that they have ethical profesionals taking care of their affairs. Unlike Dr. Phil, who by the way, makes sense when he tackes some issues, but it is all what I've learnt in 12 Step Meetings, reading some books and listening to people in such meetings.

Let's face it when Britney was just being Britney it was entertaining to watch, her hitting the clubs everynight, pantyless pictures all over the internet etc. I remember thinking to myself, It can't get worse than this, now flash forward to present day and it has. The saga that is the life of Britney Spears has no doubt taken a tragic turn, to say that she needs to get help would be the understatement of the year, however what Dr.Phil did warrents no excuse at all. However I think that people should let off of Jamie and Bryan Spears because as it stands they are some if any who actually want Britney to get better so she can have an actual shot of trying to regain some custody of her children. I think at some point Jamie and Bryan need to be the ones to take the bull by the horns and get rid of the enablers that are in Britney's life i.e that weird Sam guy , "cousin" Alli, and that photog guy that she surrounds herself. It is clear that Britney has these people around her to fill in the void of the family life that she is lacking.
