      34

ACTUALLY… THIS IS INCORRECT: Read the linked article. The newscast is NOT cancelled. The Foreign Press has cancelled its exclusive contract with NBC to air the newscast. That means any media outlet can cover the announcement, not just NBC. The foreign press has done this in order to create a more defined line between entertainment (which the WGA is taking responsibility for) and news. The newscast will still go on, just not exclusively on NBC.

      36

Perez, check your source man. Nikki Finke doesn't say the Globes are cancelled - just that NBC's newscast is now a real newscast. So any news outlet, like CNN, can cover it just like a real press conference. Sheesh.

"We were pleased to give the HFPA assurances that we will not picket nor will we be opposed to a small number of talent helping to announce the winners."

When did the writers start runnig Hollywood? Passing decrees about what can and will take place and who is allowed to be involved. I am getting really sick of this. I understand the need for unions & strikes and for the most part support them, but when one group holds an entire city's well being in their hand I think the power of it all goes to their head & begin to forget what it is they are fighting for. How does picketing award shows help their cause - they aren't sold on DVD or recast online? This is akin to striking lunch ladies picketing on street corners where bus drivers pick up the kids. UHHH! It's just beginning to be tired, old & just in poor selfish taste - on both sides of the issues.

    38. Frazzled says – reply to this

      38

…the article said nothing about it being cancelled - just that NBC wouldn't be involved.

Isn't Hollywood today wonderful. No longer do we have celebrities that care about their audience, no more screen idols, no actor we can look up to. What happened to celebs who cared about their audience?

They cancel award shows (some may care less), which are "audience" favorites. What they are really doing is thumbing their nose at their audience, along with the HFPA (in this case), especially since they are piling up on freebie swag (show me the money), and accepting the award that they are boycotting. If you are boycotting, then you do it 100 percent, not just half way. They are not just playing politics with the producers, they are playing politics with their audiences. Really, they could care less about us, think about it. They get the award and freebies, they lose nothing!

SAG and the actors in support of boycotting their audience are a bunch of narcissistic, arrogant, greedy hypocrites. We, as adults, should take notice. Where are those actors of yesteryear that really cared about their fans and not their egotistical pockets? I would have respected them more if they turned down the award and swag, but they have to feed their egos and screw their audience.

Any adult that respects SAG and these celebrities, in lieu of recent developments, should have their heads examined. We as the people, need to boycott U.S. made films, television series, and Hollywoods plastic celebrities.

This headline and accompanying explanation are not really accurate. The Golden Globes press conference HAS NOT been canceled as reported by Perez. NBC, in order to avoid picketing by the WGA, has decided to give up their exclusive rights to broadcast the press conference. The event is now open to all media so that it will appear less like a produced program and allow for A-list stars to be there. Long story short, anyone with press credentials will be permitted to attend and broadcast the announcement of the winners. Aside from this change, everything will go on as planned.

the funny thing is that no one cares! the foreign press is just a few people (believe it or not) who have hyped up their stupid show to make it look important. It's just an excuse for a bunch of celebrities to get hammered and look stupid on television. They all sit around ass kissing and looking self-important in borrowed jewelry and 8 pounds of makeup. They are ENTERTAINERS - nothing more. Not political scientists, not analysts, not environmental scientists, not real doctors- just a bunch of egotistical, usually poorly educated, idiots that we watch because they entertain us. They don't deserve awards for that anyway. Boo hoo.

Oh god I feel so bad that rich fucks can't get 100k gift bags and awards and be given a forum to claim Global Warming gayness and other political bullshit as if they know what they are talking about. And to the writers, get back to work or get fired you worthless lazy fucks.

OH MY! do you feel stupid now?
