The numbers are in!

The Golden Globes live announce of the winners last night got disastrous ratings for NBC.

The Writers Guild must be happy!

The press conference came in fourth for its time slot and had a 4.8/ 7 from 9-10 p.m. That means only 5-7 million people watched.

Usually, the Golden Globes has 20 million plus viewers.

Hopefully the strike will be resolved soon. The Oscars can't be cancelled too!

      I saw bits and pieces of it and I know this won't be a popular opinion but I found it WAAAY better than the normal show. They zipped right through the awards and we didn't have to get bored to death and try to stay awake through endless thank-yous.

      My boyfriends father works high up in the business. He says the strike is likely to last A LOT longer than people hoped for. Expect it to start affecting movies soon. It's already forced stations to bring back crappy canceled shows like Terminator and New Amersterdam.

      Re: Tulip – I totally agree with you; in fact I'd go one step further and urge the entire business to go fuck themselves and their self-congratulatory ways and just give out a press release with the winners, to be put back on page D16, after the stories of potholes wrecking cars.

      Honestly think of it this way: the real winners of no awards shows are us viewers. No more bullshit previews and gushing interviews by those stupid cunts at ET/Access Hollywood, etc; no more hearing about the $35k worth of crap all those leeches received; no more tearful reward speeches; no more red carpet bimobs on parade trying to pronounce who designed their dresses (of which one could pay off my student loan) and, after this initial weaning off year, no more bitter brawls with my sister over not wanting to hear one goddamn minute of an awards brouhaha when I can watch the log burning in the fireplace on Channel 11 instead.

      This really is the best fucking thing to happen, actually.

      The hardest part for Hollywood is realizing that the cancellation of the Golden Globes meant nothing to anybody. No one cares and no one missed them. Please DON'T air them again next year. Thanks.

      It was so lame. They were better off not putting on any kind of show and just announcing it in Variety. I like Nancy O'Dell, but the rest looked uncomfortable doing the lame show. I really can't stand that Billy Bush guy, really can't stand his ass.

      I don't know what "surprise" they have for the Oscars, but the Oscars have been losing ratings for a LONG time, so this strike is bad news, for sure. I hope they come up with some kind of agreement so…or this season is bust!

      I for one hope that all the awards shows are cancelled. I've had enough of the self-aggrandizing by Hollywood. More and more awards shows every year, recognizing people with very little connection with the real world, making their living on the backs of hard working people. Get over yourselves.

      nobody cares about industry reps announcing winners. we want to see celebs (hence the reason for THIS website) actually accept the awards themselves.

      "The Writer's Guild must be happy", eh? Yeah. The Writer's Guild is also a bunch of loser crybabies. At this point, I couldn't care less what their strike obscures from broadcast. I don't watch TV anyway. Last week, I called the cable company to get my crappy reception fixed. I guess they came and fixed it… I have yet to actually turn the TV on.

      It sucked.. the whole access hollywood set and Billy Bush. I love the Globes but it sucked. What where they thinking? Billy Bush lowered the class level. It was horrible. Shame on the WGA for letting this happen to the fans… :(
