Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that the Coachella Music Festival is heading east this year!
"In addition to having the festival outside of Palm Springs, like they do every year, this year they're mounting an east coast version of Coachella in New York or possibly New Jersey," an insider tells us.
The East coast version is expected to be a few months after the Cali affair. "It should be in August," we're told.
Fun times!

Two things for all you stupid readers:
1. Perez did not say it was moving from Indio. He said they would have an East Coast version.
2. Goldenvoice, the organizers of Coachella, is an LA-area concert promoter. They have no ties and no reason to get in the business of having a festival in NY or NJ. If there was reason enough to do it, then it would have already been done by the countless promoters already in that area.
I live in New York and go every year to Coachella, the whole romance and excitement about it is being in the beautiful desert, with loads of diverse people, all coming together to watch fantastic bands. Even though you could have the great people and great bands in NY or NJ, the whole experience would not be the same for me at all. Not having those gorgeous mountains to look at for one, would be a killer.
I saw Daft Punk at Coachella and it was easily the best experience ever, then a year later saw them in NY and it lacked the atmosphere completely…..
Whhhhhoooopsies! They Jumped the Shark… No good. no good at all. Don;t get all greedy or you might end up like Lolapalooza. Kinda turns me off a lot.
This blows. Our only sanctuary is going to be emulated and moving east??? Why GoldenVoice?? WHY?????
Word on the street is the top acts of this year's fest are: No Doubt, Coldplay, Soundgarden, Portishead, Pulp, Kanye West, My Bloody Valentine, Death Cab for Cutie, The Chemical Bros, Basement Jaxx, and Rihanna.
An east coast Coachella is bullshit. It's named Coachella because it's in the Coachella Valley. The organizers, or another company, could definitely try to have a similar festival on the east coast, yes, but it would not be called Coachella. Actually, attempts are being made to throw the first Vineland music festival in Jersey as we speak.

I'am from palmsprings and this is one of the biggest events for the coachella valley.Yeah when i read this for the first time i was mad. Goldenvoice should not have other version on the east coast!!. ITs the one and only Coachella Fest and should be kept that way!!!..They are taking away the beauty of our mountains and the atompshpere and the reason people come around the world to experience this shit!! The fact that perezhilton knows anything about coachella angers me, I go on this website as a guilty pleasure but the last thing i need is to go to coachella and bump into a crowd of celebrity fanatics who arent there for the music. this sounds like the vineland festival to me too. can't be 100% sure. rumor has it that the line up is killer as well. just as good as the other summer festivals. to be continued… we shall see!
