He pulled a Gayheart!
Academy Award-winning screenwriter Roger Avary, Pulp Fiction, was arrested for drunk driving in Ventura County this past weekend.
Making matters worse, Avary was so drunk that he crashed his car severely.
One of the passengers, Andreas Zini, died.
Avary's wife, Gretchen Avary, was ejected from the car and found in the roadway by police.
She was transported to Ojai Valley Community Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Avary was booked into Ventura County Jail. He was charged with manslaughter and DUI. He was later released on $50,000 bail.

You Americans should really start taking driving under the influence of alchol and/or drugs more seriuosly! You have to understand that alchol and a car is a very dangerous combination and that you really should NOT drink and drive because you could end up killing somebody!

If you know the driver is impaired ride at your own risk. $50,000.00 bond is covered with a check for $5,000.00. You pay ten percent. In two years his estate will be wiped out by fines, lawyers and the dead mans family.

Rebecca Gayheart was not drunk when she hit a jaywalker, you can't use her as an example for this. This is about driving drunk, there are PLENTY of appropriate comparaisons you could have made — Nicole Ritchie driving the wrong way down the highway leaps to mind, let alone all of the other celebs who have been caught DUI.

A stupid irreplaceable mistake. I had an accident about 25 years ago where a little girl ran out in front of my car and was hit. Fortunately she survived the incident. The deeply moving part of this story was, I had been travelling towards a place to meet relatives, and this little girl lived about 70 miles away from where I was going, but as it turned out, she was actually related to me, and I found out latewr she and I were distant cousins. Freaky to say the least. My point is I was wary from that point on. Maybe this guy had a close call once before this, and didn't heed the warning. The law of attraction.

you have obviously never been to Ojai. I grew up there, its a small town of less than 8,000… trying to get any type of cab there is like trying to get an STD at a nunnery.

The people who got into the car with him, knowing full well that he was drunk, deserve what they got. It's one thing for a drunk to drive, but it's another for sober people( if the passengers were) to get into a car being driven by someone they know is drunk.
I am a driver for a limo company in Los Angeles. I drive celebs around all the time, and people to parties. I know that hiring a car initially seems very expensive, and something you think you could do without…but stories like this just illustrate that the expense of hiring a car for the night is far less than the emotional, and fiscal payments you would have to make when you destroy your car, your life, and take the life of someone else. So looking at this story, is $50 and hour really too much to spend to guarantee a safe, sober driver to take you home? It's sad to see that people are so idiotic that they'd drive drunk when there are SOO many options out there.
