We love Chris Daughry. He tells it like it is!

One of the most successful American Idol alums in years, the rocker is now trashing the show which made him famous, but premiered Tuesday night to disappointing numbers.

"I feel like [American Idol] it’s definitely lacking some credibility at this point,” Daughtry tells Rolling Stone. “It’s in a state of decline and if they don’t do something about it, it’s probably not gonna last too much longer. I’m sure that’ll be used against me, but that’s the truth, you know? People get tired of seeing people that suck,” he says. “It’s funny at first, but come on. They spend three weeks on people that can’t sing, and that’s what they’re banking it on. [They should] find some people that you can really invest in.”

He is absolutely right…. HE is successful because he can play and write his own shit. Most of the people on there want to go from nobody to Christina Aguilera or Pre Britney Breakdown fame. They are clueless and not overly talented. The fact that they are dropping their own winners off label is even more a testament to the fact that they dont market them once the show is over and the entire thing is a fucking gimmick. So why the fuck would we watch something and invest OUR time into it when it is going to be bullshit in the end anyway? No thanks. The show sucks.

The funny thing is, if you heard the whole conversation you would've heard all the good things I said about the show as well. Like for instance: How it's an amazing platform to launch a career….."If you take it seriously!!!!" Let's not forget I was a struggling artist for 11 years that never got any respect or notoriety so know that I'm eternally grateful for the opportunity that Idol gave me. And that's where my comments came from. It all started when the interviewer (who was great by the way) asked me where the "Idol stigma everyone talks about" comes from. Ya know….the reason people never take anyone from the show serious in the real world and why people say "oh they came from AI, they're not real artists." So, I answered that I don't feel that enough "artists" try out for the show because of how many people they focus on that are obviously there for comedic and entertainment value. And when you focus enough on people that aren't serious about it then it's hard for the audience to take you as an artist serious. And it's also hard as a potential contestant to think it's a good way to get seen because you're afraid of being made a joke of. I also said I think it's AWESOME that they are letting the contestants play their own instruments and that I feel that will show something in the contestants that people (the audience) never get to see….but that wasn't printed.

First, I love Chris Daughtry. He rocks.
Second, I agree with him and I had the same feeling last night when I was watching the auditions. People tune in to see people living the dream. Idol should be a big opportunity for people who would otherwise not be able to break into the music business. We love to see people like Carrie Underwood who went from the farm to the big time.
Watching people suck and fail is just cruel and it gets real old, real fast.

I agree, I don't like watching the start of the show for that reason. I mean they show 12 horrible people and 2 good ones and the show is over. I think people would rather see a bunch of good singers. Also some people you don't even get to see until the last part of American Idol top 30 because they spend more time on people who aren't even going on to the next round. Like it's so not funny to keep seeing different costumes. I know I am not the only one wishing I could fast forward.

I hate Idol, but here's a word of advice. Take three seasons off and let the talent pool regenerate so you can have stronger people coming in. The show has gone the way of the buffalo and the only way to fix it would be above, or hopefully Randy Jackson and Paula choke each other to death in a weird sex game only they know.

I think it’s kind of hypocritical for him to say that about something that has gotten him so famous. Maybe it’s true, but that doesn’t show much loyalty from him. Besides, I think most people really enjoy getting a good laugh from the singers that suck. I just think you can only do the same thing so many times. You know what bothers me most about all these AI breakout stars is that they always come back to say bad things about the show. Ok the show may not be great, but if it wasnt for the show these people would still be nobody's. We would never have heard of them. Actually, I only watch the first few weeks of AI for the comedy aspect of it. After that, I've lost interest. If they get rid of the funny auditions, they will probably lose a lot of their audience.

I will say after last nite premiere… they need to focus LESS on the "behind the scenes" stuff, and the "home visits" they make to the contestants. SNOOZE FEST

I have to agree with Chris. It's funny for about the 2nd show and then, I start to wonder what parents and support system are behind these koo koo birds who just want 10 seconds of fame. Why aren't their parents or friends making sure they get to their Psych appts and get their meds? The sad part is that most of them actually are surprised whent they're told they can't sing. I can't imagine lying to my son or daughter if they can't carry a tune and support their decision to go and humiliate themselves. I love watching American Idol but enough of showing these poor people that seriously need medication.

personally i do not see his appeal. i can't stand the type of music he sings, he's not attractive, and he comes off as a total jerk. i do agree with him that AI is on the decline though. but i always watched it for the entertainment value not because i thought it was going to produce any great talent necessarily. i have never bought a cd by any of the contestants.

I actually auditioned for idol this last july in san diego. after sitting in a stadium for 16 hours, only to watch idiot after idiot get picked was sad. People I had heard in the halls singing who were great, got turned away. But two morbidly obese women, a guy in a cow costume, and some bitch in a hot green bikini and nothing else who couldn't sing got through. By the time I reached the judges, they literally told me, " You are amazing, but we are only looking for the freaks at this point of the day. " Great! Fuckers. You tell it like it is Daughtry. Hopefully I will join you soon!

Chris is absolutely right. I know people who HAVE auditioned for AI, and they were turned away because they didn't have that "it" that previous contestants had. They keep the "people who can't sing" because they're entertaining. But not even that's helping Idol's ratings. And don't you think that some of the people who audition for this show are not aspiring performers, but actors wanting to get some screen time? This is the worst excuse for a "talent" show I have ever seen.

I went to the auditions in Philly, the 1st round you don't see, to see people on the show that just got through cause they have some kind of gimmick is annoying. I have sang for 12 years of my life and I would have loved to have the chance to audition for Randy, Paula, and Simon.

Criss Angel Responds To Recording Of Altercation! Says Producer Provoked Him!

There are two sides to every story! Here's his!

In light of the audio recording released yesterday that featured Criss Angel threatening to knock out one of his producers, the illusionist's attorney, Ken Woloson, has released the following statement:

"Criss Angel was in the process of firing Joe Safuto on Wednesday when Safuto became abusive and Criss asked him to leave. Criss decided to fire Safuto in response to repeated complaints from co-workers and other magicians about Safuto's abusive and violent behavior and general ineptitude. Witnesses have attested that there was no physical contact and that Safuto very clearly was the antagonist. The audio released to the media is a snippet of a much longer conversation. We are exploring legal action against Mr. Safuto, including for his defamatory and illegal conduct."

Ouch! Sounds like he means business!
