That was quick!
Chris Daughtry is doing damage control over his harsh criticism of American Idol.
The singer just posted the following on his official blog:

It's so sad that when you're asked something and you answer honestly….you're made out to be the bad guy. Yes, I'm referring to the Rolling Stone post. The funny thing is, if you heard the whole conversation you would've heard all the good things I said about the show as well. Like for instance: How it's an amazing platform to launch a career….."If you take it seriously!!!!" Let's not forget I was a struggling artist for 11 years that never got any respect or notoriety so know that I'm eternally grateful for the opportunity that Idol gave me. And that's where my comments came from. It all started when the interviewer (who was great by the way) asked me where the "Idol stigma everyone talks about" comes from. Ya know….the reason people never take anyone from the show serious in the real world and why people say "oh they came from AI, they're not real artists." So, I answered that I don't feel that enough "artists" try out for the show because of how many people they focus on that are obviously there for comedic and entertainment value. And when you focus enough on people that aren't serious about it then it's hard for the audience to take you as an artist serious. And it's also hard as a potential contestant to think it's a good way to get seen because you're afraid of being made a joke of. I also said I think it's AWESOME that they are letting the contestants play their own instruments and that I feel that will show something in the contestants that people (the audience) never get to see….but that wasn't printed. My long winded point is this….I was never trying to "DISS" the show or "BITE THE HAND THAT FED ME" so to speak. I was simply giving my input on what I think would spice the show up a bit.

I don't really care about Chris but what he said happens to all artists who give interviews. Even mags like Rolling Stone pick and choose what they print from the interview and they print things out of context to make it perposely sound worse then what the artist said. They also never print when an artist is saying something as a joke. They print it as being serious then everyone goes, "oh what a cocky bastard or bitch" even though they were joking. This world is going to hell in a handbasket.

There is a "spin" put on most celebrity interviews to make them interesting. I think he's completely valid here and doesn't seem to be doing much "back-peddling." If he denied saying that stuff, then I'd say he doing damage control, but I think that was just to clarify his statements. Besides, the dude is making tons of money and has some career going. He's so versatile and mainstream that his kind of music can last. Look a Nickelback….same kind of genre AND the dudes in that band are not even good looking (and face it, Daughtry is HOT). He was just being honest in the interview…he's not worrying about American Idol anymore.

I've never said that the winning or runner up artists from American Idol weren't artists.. but I would have to agree. I was in the music business for 7 years and I got burnt out on the fact that no one wants the real life artist. They want the shimmery, glitzy singer all wrapped up in happy fun candy. They don't want YOU to write the music, just deliver it. It's pure bullshit. The REAL ARTISTS write their OWN stuff and present it. When a real person (not a little piece of shit teenybopper or nobody) who appreciates the real music looks at you and sees that you write and perform your own material, they will stick with you 100%. The show is just an easy way to launch you wherever you want to go, but that's so lame!! Get off your asses and do it the hard way, because THAT'S when it means the most. These losers that have won the show are just presenting extremely lame songs with no meaning to these little kids who know NOTHING about the music business itself. It really, really pisses me off. If she was to have stayed in just country alone, she would just be another Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Faith Hill.. She doesnt offer much if you take away the shine and success. How stupid is he? There are thousands of young people who try out every year and thousands upon thousands more who didn't have a chance for one reason or another but who will try out in the future. I predict a rocker will be allowed into the top 24 this year - unlike last year when they wouldn't let one in because of all the $$$ being spent on Daughtry. Good thing too, we're sick of him!

He has earned the right to say whatever the fuck he wants. He is an incredible artist and he consistently performed amazingly on AI. He definitely was robbed when he came in 4th place.

He's actually making a good point. If American Idol was a real competition through and through then there wouldn't be an arugment about it's authenticity. When the media and the show itself focuses on how it "transforms" its contestants into stars then of course you think there's a wizard behind the curtain molding everything into it's proper shape. Allowing contestants to play their own instruments would definitely help redefine the show as a place where people with substantial talent go.
I see what Chirs was trying to say but you would think these dumbass Idol winners would know by now just to act like a robot and say how forever greatful they are to Idol and how Idol is the best show on tv blah blah blah….you know anything else will be misinterpreted and make you sould like in ungrateful brat. Last year, I was really turned off after the Seattle auditions. Bush Baby and the other guy that Simon just brutalized were clearly developmentally disabled. It made the show look bad, not the contestants.

she wrote, they pass of hundreds of people that can "really sing" to put on folks like william chung, think that was his name, so we can laugh…
b4 the singers even get to Paula, Randi and Simon, they have to sing in front of other judges before they are passed on..

Chris is a very talented guy. He wrote almost every song on the bands CD. He is a nice, polite, down to earth guy. I say that all of these people with negativity need to get off it!

He's correct in what he said though. AI does need to pay more attention to the artist side of things.
