Being associated with overzealous Scientologist Tom Cruise has affected Katie Holmes' perception with American movie-going audiences.
The former sweet and normal girl next door's new movie, Mad Money, is BOMBING at the box office in the U.S. this weekend.
Holmes' "comeback" is proving to be anything but. Reviewers have savaged her performance in the film, and the movie is projected to make an extremely disappointing $6 - 7 Million for the Friday - Sunday weekend.
Cloverfield, on the other hand, had a HUGE debut. That flick is expected to have a $44 - $48 Million opening.
And Katherine Heigl is now OFFICIALLY a movie star that can open a movie. The Grey's Anatomy star's latest film, 27 Dresses, is on track to have a $20 Million opening. That comes hot on the success of her last movie, this past summer's Knocked Up.

I thought it was sickening how Katie Holmes and her uber-aggressive personal publicist positioned her as "THE" star of the movie. All the coverage on the news magazine shows was so CLEARLY steered by KATIE'S personal publicist to make it sound like it was HER film — when in fact, she is really a junior player to Diane Keaton & Queen Latifah. If I were DK or QL I'd be PISSED! It's extremely disrespectful to her co-stars and detrimental to the success of the movie. As you can see it was supposed to be a "buddy film" anchored by the likable Keaton/Latifah — not a STAR vehicle for the UNLIKABLE Holmes. In my opinion, Holmes hunger for the spotlight KILLED the film.
BTW — This is EXACTLY the same stunt she pulled on the Batman film and as you can see — she's not returning for the current installment. You don't show up on the red carpet with your psycho husband and steal Batman's thunder. It was totally out of order for the fabulous new franchise star Christian Bale to garner VERY little publicity in the wake of the hurricane of the newly minted TomKat fauxmance.
TomKat thought they would show up on the red carpet together to steal all the coverage for themselves — which they did. But their self-centered, narcissistic display backfired and cost Katie the sequel. Karma's a bitch and so is Tom Cruise.
I don't think the bombing of the movie means America hates Katie Holmes I just think the movie looks like it sucks….you draws some conclusions that are extreme long shots and make no sense especially when it comes to movie openings…you are an idiot.

This was reported last year in some magazine,. Don't know if it was true, but either Christian is gorgeous and I think most men would opose to this. I think it could have been the way Tom and Katie acted at the first Batman movie, Do you remember how Tom just took over the red carpet and started to act like he was in the movie, and was running around crazy signing autographs and taking Pictures, This happened when he and Katie had just started making out everywhere in public, like we needed to see that , my eyes are still burning from those two. Back to the movie , It was so sad to see while the Talented and real actors were pushed aside even the hot director was pushed out by Tom's antics.
