Elisabeth Hasselbeck Needs To Go Back To High School!

Sheri must be real happy Elizabitch is back on The View.

On Monday's episode, Hasselbeck had a hard time remembering who was granted the right to vote first - women or people of color.

Thankfully, Whoopi put her in her place.

Click here to check it out!

P.S. Rosie must be laughing her ass off…in a very ANNOYING way.

Update: Whoopi was wrong?

Maybe we all could use a little history lesson!

      36

Well actually, Elizabeth is right. The 15th Amendment to the Constitution in 1870 gave black MEN the right to vote. The 19th Amendment, passed in 1920, gave women the right to vote (both black and white). Der. Am I seriously the first one to point this out??

Actually, Perez and Whoopi may wanna re-take a high school history class. The 15th ammendment (outlawing race as a factor in who can and cant vote) was passed FIFTY YEARS before the 20th ammendment (allowing women to vote).

    68. Natalie says – reply to this

    69. me says – reply to this

      69

not to defend the dumb blond republican… but she was actually right black MEN were granted the right to vote before women however they had to own land and were only counted as 1/3 of a vote. They later took the right to vote away and women then received the right to vote then they granted blacks the right…. seems like you are an idiot as well ;)

    70. sarah says – reply to this

      70

it's too bad that whoopie is wrong. the 15th amendment says the right to vote shall not be denied to people of race/color. the 19th amendment extended suffrage to women. come on, whoopie! at least, elizabeth still looks like an idiot for not sticking to her guns.

    71. ks says – reply to this

      71

      Actually, Elizabeth was right!

Amendment 15 (1870) says Black people (and people of all races) are guaranteed rights listed in The Consititution, including the right to vote.

Amendment 19 (1920) gives women the right to vote.

      Whoopi and Perez are idiots.

    72. frank says – reply to this

      72

Good, I am glad to see that while I was posting a few others pointed out the same thing, so I was not the first to point it out. But it is scary how quick others are to jump on the bandwagon and believe whatever someone tells you. Think for yourselves, people!

    73. Gary says – reply to this

      73

Actually, black men were given the right to vote after the civil war, then it was taken away. Then women were given the right to vote, followed by all blacks. Maybe you need to go back to HS..Look things up before you post them Perez. MORON !!! She was right.

    74. PS says – reply to this

      74

Whoopie is wrong. Racial suffrage happened 50 years before women could vote. 15th amendment before the 19th.

    84. Lindsay says – reply to this

      84

Ummmmm, pretty sure black people got the vote before women… The 15th Amendment, passed in 1870, allowed men of any race to vote. The 19th Amendment, passed in 1920, allowed women to vote. Now, I'm not a genius at math, but doesn't 1870 come before 1920…

    85. a says – reply to this

      85

yea the civil war amendments, especially 15th, allowed for universal male sufferage, while the 19th amendment extended it to women

so as much as it pains me to say it, hasselbeck was right

    86. Shabangbang says – reply to this

      86

She is so close minded I can't even stand watching her. I actually watched The View a few times while she was gone…Granted the other moron was there, but atleast it wasn't two dipshits trying to throw their point of view down everyone's throat (Thouhh she knows the world isn't flat..I think). I wonder what she would think of Bush and this war if her kids were 18 and being shipped overseas. OR God forbid…if one was GAY! The poor kid would be shunned I'm sure. Okay, I'm done ranting now. Thanks for listening ;)

      88

hah.. elizabeth was right, not whoopi. blacks were given the right to vote with the 15th ammendment in 1867 and women didnt get the right til 1920.

sorry, we just learned that in history class, thats the only reason i know.

    89. lalala says – reply to this

      89

blacks were given the right first but with restrictions idiots!

    90. whatever says – reply to this

      90

actually, african american males were given the right to vote way before women were. It is just that there were so many obstacles set up by whites which prevented them from actually being able to use that right. So, maybe YOU should go back to high school.

    91. Tell me if I'm wrong says – reply to this

      91

But black people got to vote starting in 1869/70 after the civil war, though there were Jim Crow laws in place that made it difficult…but women didn't get to vote until 1919/20…so isn't whoopi wrong?

    97. debs says – reply to this

      97

      she needs serious help

    98. Leigh says – reply to this

      98

Actually, as much as I hate to admit it, Elizabitch is right. Blacks did have the right to vote prior to 1920 (when women got that right.) The Voting Rights Act in the 60s protected the rights of blacks to vote (striking down Jim Crow laws, literacy tests and poll taxes). Although it may have been difficult for blacks to vote prior to this law, they still were technically able to.

    99. coco says – reply to this

      99

I'm not sure about this (I'm not from the US), but couldn't black males vote in the North before women got the vote in 1920? Obviously they couldn't in the South, where there was Jim Crow.

    100. Myles says – reply to this

      100

      meh. I didnt' know either.
