Amy Heads To Rehab!

First, they published those disturbing images of Amy Winehouse smoking crack.

Now, The Sun is reporting that the troubled singer has finally checked in to an addiction treatment facility.

The paper says that Wino, accompanied by her dad and manager (above), headed to the Edward House private rehabilitation clinic in North West London on Tuesday evening.

We hope she stays there!

Thank God! We were about to have another Janis Joplin on our hands, but 10 times worse. She's so talented and I'm so glad that she's seeking the help that she so desperately needs. I truly wish her the best and hope that this works for her. Unfortunately, my gut is that it won't work. I work in addictions and with offenders as a therapist and feel as if she is only checking in due to the release of tape. Seems more like a legal and PR spin/reaction than someone who is really ready for change and wants to get clean. You really have to want to change and to get clean as an individual and even that doesn't work most of the time. Again, don't take this post wrong and think I am not hoping that it works and she gets and stays clean….but I do not think it will stick and that she is doing it for the right reasons that will keep her clean. Just look at her face though. In the picture it looks like her manager is holding onto her arm and pulling her in, she looks pissed as hell and her dad is standing in the background guarding the car and making sure she doesn't make a run for it!

I'm glad she finally took my advice on rehab and hair color, but i don't think she's ready for rehab yet, in her mind she's still saying no, no, no. She's only doing it because she got caught red handed on video tape and her record company is forcing her to do it. I'll give her a week after she gets out before she's binging again on crack, heroin, meth, valium or whatever she can get her hands on. By the way, whose supplying her with these drugs. She can get caught on tape taking drugs, but not on tape buying them.

Millions of people have been in situations…….some become addicted, some don't. It's about many different things, not the least of which is an inherited tendency……call it genes or whatever, brain chemistry - it's not that easy to just categorize people; it IS very complex……. and add to that environment and society……I feel for the younger generation…..addicted or not, life's not easy.
