For once the top categories aren't a complete nightmare - There are a few choices I might disagree with based solely on my personal opinion, but there's no Titanic to get my blood boiling either.

    However…

The music choices are a fucking joke - I enjoyed Enchanted (though I'd have never seen it if not for my daughter), but three songs from that and none by Eddie Vedder (Into the Wild) or Kimya Dawson (Juno)? And Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood) being completely absent from the original score category? It's like the selection committee is made up entirely of grandfathers and their pre-teen granddaughters.

What happened to A Mighty Heart? We've been told for months that Angelina was the best actress according to the angeloonies…. NOT!!!! LMAO. She got the shaft. The film wasn't even nominated for ANYTHING. Her & Brad got the big boot by Hollywood this year. Guess she should go adopt a kid and put her career on the back burner for awhile, just like she said she was going to do. Congrats to the rest of the talented actors and actresses that were nominated!

I'm shocked and disappointed that Angelina Jolie didn't get nominated for 'A Mighty Heart". She gave a phenomenal performance. Nominating such a young girl first time out as 'Juno' I don't agree with. Give them time to let their chops grow and pay their dues as actors. Too easy too soon, not good in the long run. IMHO.

I AM VERY HAPPY ABOUT CASEY AFFLECK WAS NOMINATED FOR HIS ROLE IN JESSE JAMES. HE WAS VERY GOOD.

    ALSO JUNO….EXCELLENT MOVIE. VERY FUNNY.

OH AND JOHNNY DEPP….HE WAS SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD IN SWEENEY TODD.

    31

    OMG!WTF! Angie is not nominated???????????
I'm shock!!!!!! This goes to show whom you know and the wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. Her performance in AMH is worthy of an OSCAR nomination. Hollywood really loves Cate, like that a suprise. How can they overlooked her. It's totally UNFAIR and OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!! I wish the strike will go on and on and on so the OSCAR will suffer the same fate as the Golden GLobes!!!!!! I'll boycott this year!!!!!!!!!! Anyone feel the same??????????

So little Ellen Page from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, gets her first Oscar nod at age 21. Maybe Lindsay Lohan and company should take a leaf out of Ellen's book, keep your head down and work hard. Represent, Ellen, Halifax loves you.

    Re: LT

I DISAGREE WITH YOU THERE. ANGELINA HAS WON AND BEEN NOMINATED BEFORE. TIME TO LET SOMEONE ELSE SHINE FOR A CHANCE. ELLEN PAGE WAS GREAT AND SHE IS 21…..BY THE WAY ANGELINA WAS ONLY 23 WHEN SHE WAS NOMINAED FOR HER 1ST AWARD (EMMY) AND SHE WAS ONLY 25 WHEN SHE WON HER OSCAR…..TO EASY TO SOON? MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE WAITED TILL SHE WAS 30?

  39. wow says – reply to this

    47

Don't blame the writers! They are just trying to get their fair share! If you want the strike to end, call for a boycott of DVDs until they meet the writers demands in full.

  48. k says – reply to this
    48

Why is Juno up there so many times? It was a decent film, but the cinematography was boring, the dialogue was too heavy and it had NO SUBTEXT! why, WHY? Assassination of Jesse James should have been nominated for best picture instead. and why isn't 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 Days up for best foreign film? And yeah, Angelina Jolie should be up for best actress, instead of Ellen Page. Jason Reitman should not be up for Juno, the director of atonement of a mighty heart should have been nominated instead. BOO!

If she had been nominated they would be screaming that the Oscars MUST go on!! Such sad little people they are. Hollywood stuck it to Jolie & Brad… it's called bad karma.

I hope they DO cancel the Oscars and all the other awards shows. Time for Americans to get informed about our failing economy, bringing out troops home from Iraq, and upgrading our education system, rather than obsess on Britney. These people are supposed to entertain you, not be your role models. Wake up kids over 18 - time to grow up!

It's good to see that you are more worried about award shows than seeing writers get the fair deal that they are due. You complete asshole. Why don't you find out what the issues are and see how the average writer is screwed by the new media residuals as they are now before you spout off you stupid corporate apologist
