David Beckham is making the most of his downtime.
The soccer stud took part in an impromptu soccer match at the roadside, in the Aberdeen neighbourhood of Sierra Leone's capital Freetown, during a visit this past weekend.
Becks visited Sierra Leone with UNICEF to call international attention to the issue of child survival.
David also visited a therapeutic feeding centre during his visit. The UNICEF-supported centre is the only one in the northern part of Sierra Leone, which also has the highest under-five mortality rate.
"We can't turn a blind eye to the tens of thousands of young children who die every day in the developing world, mostly from causes that are preventable," said Beckham. "Saving these children's lives is a top priority for Unicef and as an ambassador I hope I can help to draw attention to this issue across the world."
In Sierra Leone, under-5 mortality rates are the highest in the world; some 27% of the country's children die before reaching their 5th birthday. Sierra Leone also has the world's highest maternal mortality rate, estimated at 1,300 per 100,000 live births.
That's beyond tragic.

I'm glad you post entries about this.
I was affected my this personally.. My best friend came here to the US from Sierra Leone and was quite sickly. She was the most beautiful person I'd know. The most beautiful soul and with such a great sense of humor and desire to help people. The most profound person I'd ever known. We became best friends and it was just one of the happiest times of my life.
She wound up dying a few years later at 19 years old. May she rest in peace.
I wish we could do more to help.
My best friend from Sierra Leone transformed my life. I was so happy to have her as my friend. I would like to help the suffering country that produced such a beautiful and amazingly spiritual and profound, loving individual.
