Amy's Dad Speaks!

Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, addressed reporters assembled outside his home on Tuesday, the day pictures of his daughter smoking crack were published.
He said:
"I'm off to see Amy now. I've spoken to her already and she's fine. She says she's ok, so no problems. All that picture shows is what everybody knew anyway. Yes, I am worried about her but this picture doesn't show anything we didn't already know before. It just shows me the tabloids are resorting to underhand tactics to expose her and we already know what the problems are."
Both Amy's dad and mom have spoken publicly about their daughter's struggles with substance abuse.
It must be so heartbreaking to be in a situation where you feel so helpless.
The only one that can help Amy at this point is Amy. Hopefully she'll get the help she needs!

Universal Republic records released the following statement on Tuesday, in response to the continued downward spiral of their breakout star, Amy Winehouse:
"We are deeply disappointed and upset by these latest revelations and are doing everything we can to offer Amy our full support in dealing with her problems."

I'm sure her family has been trying for a long time to get her to go to rehab. She's an adult, however, and cannot be forced to go if she does not want to go. The enabler in this case is her record company and other music industry types that continue to employ her.

I don't know why people make fun of her looks. I think she's quite attractive in black hair.

Its true, everyone knows that there are problems, but it's nothing that millions of people are already doing– and who knows if that's crack or if it's pot… It's probably just puff, and we all knows she does that- what's the big deal? Let her do what she wants, if she dies, then that sucks but its not going to make her better by people prying into her personal life. Listen to her music and leave her alone already.

What people don't realize is that addiction is a serious thing… I started smoken at the age of 14 and thankfully I was able to stop… She is sick and doesn't need to be exploited… She need the love and support of her family all others should just fkcu off!!!

Her dad is right. Everyone knows that she is an addict, and the tabloids are exploiting what everyone already knows. I wish for once that the tabloids would be supportive towards a person who needs help, and not ridicule their every move,
I feel very badly for Amy's family. A lot of people don't seem to understand that when dealing with an ADULT child (or other family member), the family really is basically helpless. You cannot force someone to get off drugs or enter rehab. All you can really do is try, try and try some more to convince your loved once to do what needs to be done. Its horrible to be so helpless while you watch someone you love destroy themself.
I have an adult family member who continues to screw up her life over and over… no matter what we do for her, no matter what we provide for her, it never seems to make any difference. She goes right back to her destructive ways and there's not a damn thing we can do except watch in fear.
Families really are basically helpless… I really feel for Amy's mom and dad.
PS - Britney's family doesn't count cuz that's what you get when you pimp out your 15-year old daughter… then do the same thing with the next one.

amy has a classically beautiful voice. i really hope she can get pass these demons she is fighting. because losing her to drugs would be such a waste of unfulfilled talent.

I feel very bad for mitch, he has spoken about all the help and support he and the family's of both amy and blake have given to amy and blake, and how helpless they feel watching his little girl fall apart. he knows she could end up dead. at the end of the day they try everything they can, but it is up to amy. Mitch said that when she says she is ready for help, they have a planned strategy which they will put into action.
She does need help but she looks so much better with her signature 'do back. And may I say she looks more than semi fierce in that photo.
I think that there needs to be a law where if family members can prove that a loved one is abusing drugs of alcohol they should be able to put them in rehab against their will, I mean its just like putting someone in a psych ward after trying to commit suicide. Drug addicts are basically trying to kill themselves so its the same thing. And they'll never get help themselves because they usually believe they don't have a problem or think that its just too hard to get clean and don't want to deal with that. Its very sad.
