Michelle's Dad Speaks Out
Filed under: Australiastic > Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger's family has released their statement on the actor's tragic death.
Now, Michelle Wiliams's father, Larry Williams, is speaking out as well.
He says:
"I think Tennyson got it right in the poem when he described someone as having died at a young age but burning the candles at both ends, and oh what a beautiful flame he made, that was Heath, what a beautiful flame he made and a great talent. My heart goes out to everyone in his family and my family. The saddest thing is his daughter whom he just loved dearly."

Poor Michelle and Matilda. May he rest in piece
So sad.

How tragic. I still can't beleive it!!!
That is very sad. Too bad his daughter dissed on him at such a young age. Larry is a good and forgiving man.
this is so horribly sad
i cant believe this happened to him so young
he will be missed
This is such a beautiful picture & this is the way that he should be remembered… as a beautifully talented actor & a wonderful father!
daddy williams was busted for some illegal shit, doubtful if he has anything to do with his daughter.
It is the sadness of the loss to his family and friends and all his unrealized potential, desperately tragic and utterly unnecessary….
So so VERY sad……..Poor lil girl, my heart goes out to his lil princess, LOve a fellow Aussie
Thats so sad, what a waste of talent. RIP Heath
Beautiful yet so sad…
We lost an amazing soul in Heath and a wonderful talent.

Re: i survived – Bitter much???
Oh, how sad. I just feel for them so much, I almost cried when I heard of Heath's death. What an unexpected tradgedy
If he loved his daughter so much he would have gotten off the drugs, now look where he is… Such a fucking shame.
GROSS TACKY TACKY TACKY TACKY
my prayers go out for michelle. I can't imagine how she's feeling right now. I hope she and her daughter are okay.
That poem he mentioned is one of my favorites.
Heath Ledger truly was talented, one of my favorite actors.
Meheart goes out to this sad story. My prayers are with his loved ones. Poor Matilda, she sure will miss her dad dearly! RIP our Aussie friend. You will be greatly missed, as you already are!
It's really really sad. I can't even stop thinking about it.
this is so sad. God bless his soul and sooth his families and friends pain.
I thought it was so sad when they were taking his body out and all you could see were people snapping pictures. The guy didn't want that kind of attention when he was alive, he should've been given the respect of not having that in his death. It's so sickening and sad. RIP Heath.
heartbreaking
His poor daughter.
GIVE THEM SOME PEACE PEREZ! HOW ABOUT IT? DUMBASS!
:(
that's a beautiful way to put it. rest in peace, heath.
THis story is so depressing and sad. I have been a bit caught up in it all day. I want to move on and get some happy upbeat news in my head before I get really drained. I think it is just so sad- he didn't seem like a junkie or a jerk and I have a daughter his daughter's age. I couldn't imagine her growing up w/o her daddy.
actually the poet is Edna St Vincent Millay, and the poem is:
My candle burns at both ends, it will not last the night-
but ahh my friends and ohh my foes it gives a lovely light.

Like a candle in the wind………
awww farrah will be sad.
*description*
That is such a beautiful way to describe what was a super-talented but over-worked and tired young man! He and his talent will be missed terribly…RIP.
This was very nice of Michelle's dad. Heath was an obviously nice person who died early… Brit is lucky the same hasn't happened to her…
Didnt respect or love his daughter enough to stay off drugs now did he…why is this sad……he had the same drug life style as Tom Sizemore….he just kept it under wraps better…..feel sorry for what……He dug his own grave!
Not an English major, nor intending to dis Mr. Williams, but wasn't that an Edna St. Vincent Millay poem?
good night and sleep well handsome boy
This just breaks my heart.
Because Heath Ledger wasn't just another pretty face-
He wasn't just another shallow celebrity.
He brought that special "something" to a film.
He had spirit. He had…. HEART.
Though I never even knew him
I will miss him being on the planet.
Rest in Peace…
Your candle burned out long before your legend ever will…….
Heath will never be forgotten……
Re: INDESPICABLE FAT FUCK! – Ha ha! The prefix IN in front of despicable indicates that you think Perez is NOT despicable. You love Perez like everyone else does, natch!
How poignant!
thats an edna st vincent millay poem, not alfred lord tennyson. id probably consult an english text before i made a public statement and quoted a poet.
RIP heath.you will be missed.xxx
Not to criticize the suffering, but it wasn't Tennyson. It was Edna St. VIncent Millay.
"My candle burns at both ends, it will not last the night. But oh my friends and oh my foes it gives a lovely light!" (from first fig)
perfectly fitting to a tragic end
My heart goes out to his family and his daughter..what a loss of an incredible human being REST IN PEACE..I am still in total awe
Edna St. Vincent Millay: "My candle burns at both ends/ It may not last the night/ But ah my foes and oh my friends/ It gives a lovely light"
shouldnt have been popping all those drugs..he might still be here for his kid. It was obviously just his time to go.. cant stop it when its your time tho.
how sad. he will be missed…
terrible..i've been caught up in it all day too, couldn't think of anything else. he was such a great talent with a whole life ahead of him. my heart goes out to his daughter, his family and friends and michelle its so sad for her..

he will never be forgotton.
a sad dutch girl
Re: DZ – well said! My sentiments exactly…why do we need to feel all weepy and sad for 1. someone who probably wouldnt have given us the time of day 2. someone who abused some sorta drugs enough that it killed them.Didnt he read the warning labels???????? He shoulda known better!
Re: brin – why do you think its so HARD on her?? She obviously didnt want him in her life anymore..she's showing respect attending his funeral.
I'm still in shock! I can't believe Heath is gone. He was such a talented actor and so down to earth. My heart goes out to his family. The saddest thing is him leaving his little girl behind, Matilda Rose.
And SHAME on all of the people who are saying bad things about Heath. That is so horrible. These people have no hearts at all.
Everyone, please keep Heath and his family in your prayers.
R.I.P. Heath Ledger
You will be missed by so MANY!
Re: studio54 – yes it WAS unecessary…thats why they put warning labels on the bottles!!!duhhh
It wasn't Tennyson, it was Edna St. Vicent Millay.
I'm so sad about this. But..I wanna hear what Jakey has to say.
well said…
It is a beautiful quote but unfortunately it wasn't Tennyson. It was written by Edna St. Vincent Millay…quite a apropos poet for the an actor most famous for his role as as a homosexual.
It wasn't Tennyson. It was Edna St Vincent Millay in her poem "First Fig": "My candle burns at both ends, it will not last the night, but ah my friends and ah my foes, what a lovely sight" or something to that effect
AT LEAST HIS MOVIES WILL ALWAYS BE THERE, FOR HER DAUGHTER TO REMEBER HIM. SAD
Re: ryuuzaki –
Wen you think about it having to find out
that your son has just passed away
because of it being all over the News!
i have more sympathy for Heath's Parents!
i mean beleive me i feel really sorri for his little girl!
but come on his parents are gunna feel it most!
i mean she doesn't understand whats going on!
Can you imagine the pain Heath's mother will being
going through lossing her only son
its devistating
i miss him!WWWWAAAAAAAA:(
really bad!
it's so bizarre that during i learned for my exam at dawn, in the other side of the world he was alone in his flat, and who knows what sort of things he experienced.
he was a great actor.
i will miss him.
Re: Steve – hay man

Re: i survived – Hope you don't survive TOO much longer ASSHOLE! Should have been a double murder BOO HOO fucker!
Tennyson didn't say that about the candle burning at both ends with the lovely flame…that was Edna St. Vincent Millay.
That wasn't Tennyson. It was Edna St. Vincent Millay. The poem goes something like:
My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night
But oh my foes and oh my friends
It casts a lovely night
Rest in Peace, Heath
