The Latest On The Heath Ledger Tragedy

Heath Ledger's body will be undergoing an autopsy today.
The actor, it has been revealed, was suffering from pneumonia at the time of his death.
He had also recently been filming in London shortly before his passing on Tuesday.
Friends of the Australian actor are saying that they saw his death coming.
"Heath has gone though a rough road of trying to get sober," reveals a pal.
Ledger's substance abuse issues could be one of the reasons for his split from Michelle Williams, mother to their two year old Matilda.
Williams is said to be devastated over the news of Ledger's passing.
Ledger was most recently linked romantically to Australian model/actress Gemma Ward.
And, although The New York Times has reported that Heath's death is likely an overdose, his family is insisting that it was an accident.
So sad. So incredibly sad.

There were no illegal drugs in the apartment according to the police. Just sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication. Personally, I have to say the substance abuse claims lack. . . oh, substance. It's all "friends".
And it could have been an overdose that was accidental. Couldn't sleep, took too many. Fucking horrible, but not on purpose. Also if he had pneumonia, it could have made him more susceptible to OD.
Thoughts of everyone with his family, daughter and Ms. Williams. Women at my work were literally breaking down in tears due to this. I can only imagine what those close to him are feeling.

Why would Heath purposely kill himself in the nude? It was an accident. A man in the prime of his life with a 2 year old daughter has everything to live for. Give him and his family the respect they deserve and stop speculating.

An actor's actor - and a normal Ozzie bloke who started on an Australian soap and made it big. Sad for me being a mother to think that his Matilda will never know the love of her dad - and from all pictures he seems to have been so in love with his little girl - a relationship that runs so deep. Awful to think he died alone in his NY apartment…………just wish that someone who loved him was there - tired and lost soul.
I really hope there is life after death and his over zealous mind is now just cruising.

it is so sad you went away at such a young age .
So sad, as an aussie myself, he will be greatly missed, just a normal aussie bloke making it big in the US. Its very sad that Asutralia has lost such another young talent after steve irwin and belinda emmett.
The tears came when I saw a picture of his little daughter hugging his leg on a sidewalk in NYC. My heart aches for all of his family and loved ones. I absolutely believe this was a tragic accident if it is in fact proven to be an overdose. But let's all wait until we know for sure. Pneumonia can kill people if it gets out of control, and we just can't be positive about what happened at this stage. Regardless, he was a tremendous talent, someone I enjoyed watching through the years. Despite of what others might say, I believe God was holding him in his arms when he passed. And I pray God sees his family through this. We love you Heath.

The song "To the Mountain" always reminded me of Heath, after I saw Brokeback. Now it's almost impossibly sad and so hard to listen to.

yo. this guy was already a star, but he was also the destined "Road Warrrior" lead. that's how big a talent he was. George Miller picked this dude out (of a very small few) to take the role of a fictional character who, in 20th century pop-culture terms, was just a hair's smidge smaller than darth vader. he was huge. terrible.

The sleeping pills he was perscribed are now on the banned list in Australia. They have shown some rediculous side effects. Everything ranging from sleep walking, people having sex in their sleep, one person has been reported to have woken with a paint brush in their hand to find they painted their front door. The drug can also increase sleeplessness in some people. God knows why it is still available. This mixed with his anti depressants and pneumonia cannot have been a good thing could it? I dont believe his death was intentional.

I was actually his dental nurse in Perth WA, so I knew him reasonably well. It's so sad to have lost a fellow Aussie, especially one so fabulous and talented.
