It's official.
Amy Winehouse has finally checked in to rehab, her record label announced on Thursday.
"Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors," Universal Music Group said in a statement. "She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction. Amy is the most talented and important musical artist of her generation and has made huge strides on her road to recovery. Universal Music Group wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfil her incredible potential with the label. The label has always had the best interests of Amy at heart and has been guided by her family and doctors in the last few months as to the best direction to take. All concerned feel that Amy must put her health before all considerations and will be by her side whenever and wherever they are needed."
We sincerely hope our friend gets the help she desperately needs.
Amy is far too talented and special - as an artist and a person - to die young or waste her life on drugs!

I don't get why anyone cares if she lives or dies…she's not made a significant contribution to music (like that of the Beatles, U2, etc.) or society. Also, since it was just announced the Grammy's will not be picketed, she's probably just trying to get good publicity so that she can get into the country to get some SWAG and collect any awards she might receive.

Ya, not so TALENTED. I just don'e get what all the fuss is about. Really, in terms of having a beautiful finely tuned instrument (her voice) NO WAY! No way it could be with all that she does to her body. That being said the ONLY reason she is now going to rehab is because the authorities are looking at charges and she knows that to be in rehab now saves her ass from any possible jail time. Hope she gets the help but as long as she is able to soooo easily manipulate the system, it will likely only be a matter of time and the minute the spotlight is off she will be back at it. Unfortuate indeed, but certainly not because of a supposed beautiful voice or extraordinary TALENT, but because she is human being who, yet again, has let the fame game derail her.

Hey, what are you people completely mad? I have been a very heavy drinker for 12 years, and have been on a major binge for 2 weeks. I have been dry heaving for 12 hours, I am ice cold one second and burning up the next. I am so sick of this constant cycle of hot/cold dry heaving/fine I could just about puke. I just can't wait to be back to my old self.

unfortunately, it probably won't help because she'll probably check out long before any treatment can become effective. as with others like britney, whose families guilted/bribed/threatened them into rehab, she's most likely not there for the right reason (i.e. because she's come to her senses and realizes she wants to get her life together). but here's hoping we see more rehabbed celebs and less body bagged ones…

I think it's a great thing that she is finally realizing how serious her problem is. The vid shows her ingesting alarming amounts and combinations of drugs. At one point a "friend" warns her that it is pure uncut drug she is about to snort and to take only a small dose. She quaffs up the whole pile anyway. This is clearly a person out of control with no regard for her own life. She needs to be put away for a very long time for her own safety and not just until the Grammy awards as much as I was looking forward to hearing her sing at the Grammys). Her life is more important than an award show. And I find her trmendously talented. "Back In Black" is a brilliant albujm.
