Heath's Masseuse Faces Jail Time!

Filed under: Australiastic > Heath Ledger

wenn1661638.jpg

Diana Lee Wolozin, the masseuse who found Heath Ledger's body on Tuesday, is in trouble.

The massage therapist - who made three phone calls to Mary-Kate Olsen before she even called 911 - does not hold a state license to perform massage therapy.

Wolozin is not listed on the New York State Education Department's Web site, which tracks licensed health care professionals.

Licensed massage therapists are supposed to be certified in CPR.

Practicing massage therapy in New York without a license is a felony and Wolozin could face fines or jail time.

“We have notified the New York City Police Department as part of their investigation that no one by that name is licensed as a massage therapist in the state of New York,” says Jonathan Burman, spokesman for the New York State Education Department.

Kathleen Doyle, Executive Secretary for the State Board, says, “I can only tell you that in New York state, at this time, the law requires that any person who uses the titles 'masseur, masseuse or massage therapist' must possess a license. It’s a health profession in New York.”

They should just smack her for not calling the police first!

Please quit perpetuating more pain at such a difficult time. No one has charged her with anything and no one has mentioned charging her. You're just digging for crap to start. She wasn't in the room at the time CPR would have been of value if you read the police time line. He died between 1 and 2:45 pm. The snoring the maid heard could have been death rattles not snoring. Can't you just accept the fact that this is tragedy enough without you helping make it worse with ridiculous suppositions and shite stirring.

There's no way they're going to send her to jail for this. NO WAY. And y'know, she obv panicked and called MK first, but all the reports have said that Heath was dead for atleast 2 hours before they even discovered him…so I think it's in poor taste for people to put blame on her for Heath's death.

Nice. Let's focus on this service provider's lack of credentials. There's probably quite a few "masseuses" that don't have a license. I bet she's now wondering why she just didn't just bolt out of the place as soon as she glimpsed the tragedy. Unbelievable.

I can't help but think this is a little ridiculous. She is already traumatized by this whole experience and now she is going to be punished as well? She did what SHE thought was right by not drawing attention to the situation before she knew the severity. I don't think anyone should judge her actions because we were not there. I'm sure she was confused and panicked. She needs to be given a break.

This was in the NY Post this morning. Please give the lady a break.. they are acting as if she prescribed and gave him all those medicines that help to kill him, if that is really the case. It also said that it is not uncommon for people to panic and call loved ones in an emergency instead of calling the authorities… calling the authorities makes things seem like a big deal, and we are really hoping that matters aren't that serious, as i am sure was the case here… my prayers are with all involved..

listen ppl …I am sorry this poor woman was the one dragged into this situation BUT I am also a massage therapist licensed in New York State and I paid a lot of money for school and put in a lot of time to get my license. It's a law to have a license in New York State and if she was practicing without a license she knows full well the fines and penalties. People do it all the time and know full rick that they take. I feel bad this is the way it was discovered

Umm, why all of the speculation? She probably called Mary Kate first because it was obvious he was dead. He was already dead a while when she arrived. She probably just wanted to consult with someone else first before calling 911 because she knew it would be a complete circus. I would have done the same thing.

"Practicing massage therapy in New York without a license is a felony…" That's insane! Drug dealers and pedophiles get away scott free most of the time but god forbid you give someone a massage and you're not licensed… What's wrong with that picture??? Crazy. She was stupid for not calling 911 first, but a felon for not having a license to massage? That's fucked up.

it's not her fault, you fuck tards! placing the blame on some one else, is not going to make a difference!! geez A persons life was taken away, there's no need to be pionting the finger, on who didn't call the police first.

This should be the least of people's concerns…even if she DID know CPR, who's to say that could have prevented his death? Was he not dead already when they found him?? Correct me if I am wrong. Yes, dialing 911 would have been the idea, but sadly, punishing her for not having a license will not bring Heath back.

I emailed Perez on this just yesterday! I am a massage therapist in California and I can say that this lady doesn't deserve a break! The laws are a little different out here than in New York, but geez how much commons sense did this person have to call another celebrity first before calling effing 911!! She is a sad example of someone in my profession and she's got no business putting her hands on ANYONE! I hope they nail her ass to the wall for this - he could have possibly been saved if that moron had half a brain!!
I'd really like to know how someone like her could get celebrity clientele in the first place!

    68

ok people….the woman is not being charged with anything to do with Heath's death. She's (possibly) being charged for allegedly practicing as a massage therapist without holding a NY state licence. In NY, this is a felony.

And on another note…to the folks who are obsessing about her not calling 911 first…most likely she realized that Heath was already dead (as the ME said he was) and was in full freak-out mode. How would you react if you found someone close to you dead in their bed????

  69. loranus says – reply to this

Heath's family should intervene if they can. Love the guy as an actor, but come on now. He basically did more drugs than Britney. He is a father, a DAD!!! Do we see Brad doing coke, pills, and other crap…..NO Because he loves his life, wife and children. Heath paid a high price for his choices, now leave the poor lady who was just doing her job alone. What a disappointment.
I am sorry if this were Britney we would not be surprised. But as far as I am concerned just because Heath did not get out of cars with his balls showing doesn't mean that he has his shit together. This guys was messed up, and so he took pills to numb the pain.
Note to celebrities: You have the life that people like me dream about. Make use of it, don't abuse–please.

I think people should stop trying to find someone or something to blame for Heath's death.
First the drugs, then that wasn't enough now the masseuse is being blamed. How lame, people need to mature.
Of course, it was wrong for her to call Mary Kate first, INSTEAD of the police. But what would you do in this sort of situation? Think about all the emotions going through this womans mind.
    RIP Heath L.

This from the Australia Newspaper "Herald Sun":
It emerged Diane Lee Wolozin phoned Olsen at least four times using Ledger's mobile, dialling 911 nine minutes after her first call to the Full House actor.

An ambulance crew arrived 23 minutes after Ms Wolozin found him unconscious on his Manhattan apartment bed.

But the revelation of the minutes spent on the phone to Olsen do not have any significant bearing on the police investigation, because authorities believe Ledger was already dead.
The news media needs to stop saying he was unconscious. Being dead and being unconscious are clearly not the same state. I believe that the "snoring" the housekeeper heard were death rattles "A gurgling or rattling sound sometimes made in the throat of a dying person, caused by loss of the cough reflex and passage of the breath through accumulating mucus."
    RIP Heath
