perez…you're an overwieght, gay, cuban from miami—why so bias on obama? you of all people should understand about having dreams and making a difference…we all know you and your kind want a woman who could care less about you, because you all live in denial—like the idea that castro is dead…wake up…i think what you have done is amazing but for a person that has such a responsibility in educating our youth with stories you say are true- you should educate yourself on the facts and report your stories correctly by really understanding what the candidates stand for…Oh, Obama is indeed winning. your report is inncorrect.

PLEASE EMAIL PEREZ and ask him to correct his statement that Obama won only because of the black vote. This is patently false. Look up the stats coming out on the internet. I just emailed him myself.

SOME OF YOU PPL ARE AMAZING! AMAZING IN A COMPLETELY HORRIBLE WAY! OBAMA IS AN INEXPERIENCED ASS WHO CAN'T MAN UP TO HIS RECORD…EVEN THOUGH IT IS QUITE A SMALL RECORD. YOU THINK HE'S ANY DIFFERENT THAN EVERY OTHER POLITICIAN? HE'LL FEED YOU JUST AS MUCH BULLSHIT AS THE NEXT GUY. HOWEVER…THEIR RECORDS ARE THE ONLY THING THAT YOU CAN GO BY. AND OBAMA'S IS LACKING!!!! WHAT LITTLE RECORD HE HAS….IT IS VERY DISAPPOINTING! DO YOUR RESEARCH PPL!!! DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! DON'T BELIEVE THE FLUFF!!!

  6. Female Obama Supporter says – reply to this

    406

This is super misleading. Obama won the majority of the African American vote, it's true. But, according to these numbers, Hillary just beat his percentage of white male voters by 1%. Why don't you point out that she has the majority of female voters, and that she is trying to use her gender as a political ploy? (Which, as a female, I find tremendously insulting, considering that she presents herself as a figure attempting to step out of the confines of gender and just be respected as a candidate.)
Also, Obama had the majority of supporters in every age group. (And I'd like to point out that 3x as many 18-24 year olds turned out for this election than the one in 2004. His appeal to the youth vote, which for so long was thought of as unimportant, is making a difference.)
Hillary is a divisive figure while Obama is a uniting one. He attracts undecided and 3rd party voters. He inspires youth involvement in politics. His politics don't even approach the mud compared to Hillary's politics, which insist on dragging everything through it.
I think it's clear who I'm voting for.

I'm so sick of people mentioning Barack's missed votes, just because HillBillly mentioned it. Do any of you have your own ideas?

Hillary Clinton has missed 105 votes (23.6%) during the current Congress.

Is that what you mean by "experienced"?? She misses votes and lies about it!!

    BARACK THE VOTE

It is amazing that anyone is quoting exit polls at this point, considering how completely wrong they have proven to be in the past few weeks of primaries. Also interesting, this whole "won only on the strength of the black vote." Kind of like saying Hillary won only on the strength of the white vote. But no one says that, do they?

And no, I'm not black either.

    425

Again, for all you Obama supporters, consider two facts.

    1. Obama is a first term US Senator from the State of Illinois. He has done nothing and I mean nothing for the state since he has entered office. He hasn't even been present for most of the votes because he has been campaigning for President. If he can't service one state, how is he going to service the nation?

    2. Obama has little to no foreign policy experience. Now with a world full of countries that many would argue are angry with the United States, don't you think it is better to have someone who has experience dealing with foreign powers. Regardless of what some may think of Hillary, she has met many foreign leaders and has good relations with them. Barack does not.

Color or creed does not matter, the facts do. Barack has little to no foreign policy experience, he barely served the state of Illinois where he hasn't even completed a term. (I know, I live there.)

The election of Obama means ultimately a democratic loss. So, if you are a democrat, you should certainly get behind the one that has experience and could actually beat a Republican competitor.

    Some REAL stats from tonight:

–Nobody should be surprised that Obama pulled 68% from voters 18-29. But he won every age group, including voters 60 and older. He won the oldest cohort on the strength of his huge margin among Black voters; MSNBC reported earlier that he only drew 16% among White voters 60 or older. But he still won among white voters 18-29, pulling 49%.

    • This primary had the biggest gender gap of any of the Democratic contests to date. However, Obama won not just men, but also women. This was largely on the basis of his huge performance among African-American women. But while Clinton won big among white women, she and Obama tied among white men, with both of them finishing a bit behind Edwards.

Hillary Clinton has missed 105 votes (23.6%) during the current Congress, according to the Washington Post.

So she missed almost a fourth of the votes last year. Is this the "experience" you're repeating verbatim from her speeches?

superdelegates are not set in stone and some of Hillary's superdelegates have swapped over to Obama and she's trending downwards whilst Obama is trending upwards so HERE WE GO BABY.

CLINTON TRYING TO GET FLORIDA DELEGATES TO COUNT IS DESPICABALE BY THE BYS

Also using maths Clinton would not have won no matter what the race turnout was.

80% white vote turnout puts Obama still in first. 85% white turnout puts Edwards first.

Also the REPUBLICANS WANT HILLARY AS THE NOMINEE JESUS CHRIST. Are you fucking dense not to get this? Obama makes republicans question themselves and they have nothing on him. Obama appeals to EVERYONE across party lines whilst Hillary alienates her own party whilst stimulating to republicans to vote "not Hillary"

Be part of History and vote for the future. Obama 08

Wow. People shouldn't comment on politics if they don't know what there talking about. Barack is leading in the delegates point blank get your facts straight. So what If he got majority of black votes, that just means Hillary got more whites and women which is expected because ignorant people are voting for the wrong reasons based upon thier race and gender instead. I for one am a Barack and Hillary supporter, whoever wins the other will be their vice.

Well Obama had 25% of the white vote! That's great since SC is a pretty hick, backwards state with a lot of ignorant, racist tiwts (I'm from there so I can give an honest assessment!!). And Iowa is like 98% white, and he won there!!! Obama was right tonight when he said it wasn't about race, ethnicity, gender… it's about the need for change!! Perez, you are as ignorant as can be to play along with the race issues. He's pretty damn popular with whites and latinos as well!!

  40. John says – reply to this

    440

    Re: whoever you are

Well that's fair enough and yeah hillary vying for Florida is poor form on her part. Obama scored a comprehensive victory in SC touching nearly 30 points which Bill helped towards.

The delegates are turning as well so it seems.

    Hmmm, we'll see.

To the person who said Hillary can beat the Republicans…Polls show that both Obama and Hillary lead among all…however when it comes to McCain, McCain beats Hillary in the poll in a National head to head…and Obama ties McCain in a head to head. So you better worry if Hillary is elected, and if she is running against McCain.

  42. Christina says – reply to this

    442

You need to edit your post, Perez, because you're seriously wrong. Hillary didn't have a "more diverse group of people pick her." Did you just make that up? Obama won among every age group and got 49% of the white 18-29 year old vote. Yes, we can!!!

Perez, I go to this site for escapism and your taking that away from me. I just got back from a long day of canvasing in my friends precinct after I have already done mine. Texas primary is not until march 4 but yet I'm doing all this I also went to Iowa and New Hampshire where I worked 14-16 hr days, I have read over 50 books on my political beliefs and take economics and ethics classes I also frequent many sites about politics, economy, world news. I come to this site to escape and to be superficial and hear about celebrities if you would like to cover what candidates the celebs are supporting fine I respect that I don't like it because they usually have no idea what their candidate have actually voted for but it is celeb news but what really just drives me crazy is when posts like this just stating what candidate won what state. You have no idea what this does to me and all the hard work and I would appreciate it if you respected me as a reader of your site by not posting your opinion or what you think is political "news" just like the msm does. Don't take your superficial escapism site away from me… I sometimes complain when you attack my favorite celeb by just ventinng in one post then I get over it in 10 min. BUT this is just too much this is my beliefs, this is the core of what I believe is good for my country and the good for my future children please don't do this favoritism.

SO far after (4) States ~ Barack has MORE votes; More delegates; and a MORE diverse voter base than any of the other Democratic candidates. Barack attracts not only Democrats, but also Independents & moderate Republicans. He's the ONLY democratic candidate that can beat the Republicans in November!;-)

  65. PEREZ THIS IS WRONG says – reply to this

    465

I am not reading Perez anymore until he retracts this false article, CNN clearly shows that Obama won across all demographics, including race. Obama won a quarter of the white vote John Edwards and Clinton split the rest.

Plus if you want the real story it is that the black leaders that the Clintons bought (paid as consultants and hired onto the campaign) in order to turn out the black vote. A system that the Clintons relied on to win their elections, has failed them. Don't you ever imply it is "just the black vote" NO Democratic candidate can win without it.

McCain is going to win Florida, it is McCain in November and ALL Democrats have to take a look at the numbers that show that Hillary is vulnerable to McCain and Obama is not. Do the homework.

Until the retraction of this article, I will repost this every few days and continue to get my "news" at What Would Tyler Durden Do.

You need to take a better look at the polling. No doubt about it; he did extremely well with African Americans, but he also did as well or better with white males and young and/or educated whites. The only demographic that Hillary did appreciably better was white females and 60 and older.

    468

According to exit polls, Hillary's "diverse" votes came from white women over 65 with no education (ie: never finished high school). That is a pretty specific group.

She did poorly with ALL "younger" people (18 up into their 60's), regardless of color, and even lost most high school and college graduates to either Obama or Edwards. Seeing as the country isn't mostly comprised of uneducated white women over 65, I don't think Hillary's going to win, but that is just me.

I do think it's pretty funny that the majority of the uneducated vote for her, but nobody with any real brains will…

    Re: CJ
He did not win because he is black; he won because he is whom this country needs at this time. Barack is not running as a black candidate, Billary painted him as one with their covert racist remarks that turned people off in SC, even some of the whites. CNN and MSNBC reported this in their surveys.
Again, I am white and I have met Barack Obama. He is one of the least racist people I have ever met. He speaks about his family on both sides. He is honest to the point that he answered question truthfully and not always what people wanted him to say. He did not always say what I wanted to hear, and we were one on one. He is not a perfect man, there is no such thing, but I believe he can make a difference. And don't get me wrong; I am not one who falls in love with politicians or others in power. I am a skeptic through and through.

If you feel you need to comment about the presidential primary, come up with something original to say- who gives a shit if he got most his votes from black voters; in iowa he got most his votes from white voters; why wouldn't black people vote for him?? people are just pissed because black folk came around and voted this time, cause they maybe thought it was worth it (unlike the last 2 elections)….. get over it—
and to the point you made regarding 'the only reason he won' ….he has more delegates dude…focus

Perez - what are you thinking? I thought you hated people who would say anything to get what they want! I thought you railed against hypocrisy! And here you are supporting the Clintons in their bid? I enjoy this site, but the worst thing about this post is that not only is it wrong (and dismissive of Obama & SC), the facts that prove that it is wrong are available on the same link Perez included, if he had just looked a bit more carefully. But that doesn't mean you can't.

The facts are, as far as appealing to a diverse group, Obama won the following, in addition to the black vote:

    Among every income level
    Among every education level
    Among Democrats
    Among Republicans
    Among Independents
Among every age group except 65+
EVERY SINGLE COUNTY EXCEPT TWO: Edwards' home county & Myrtle Beach
Oh, and 24% of the white vote.

Even if you support Hillary, how can you dispute hard data? It doesn't get more diverse than that, and those are not her numbers, they are his.

I've very nicely pointed out this error to Perez and asked him to correct it. Do you think he will? This election is so important that I hope he might.

I will not vote republican no matter what, but I also will not vote billary. There are just some things that should not be accepted even in politics.

    Perez,

Please remove this post immediately. It is factually inaccurate, and dare I say, you know nothing about politics. The exit poll data actually shows that Barack had a more diverse group support him, winning among the following demographics:

    Men (regardless of race)
    Women (regardless of race)
Young people ages 18-29 (regardless of race)
    Young white people ages 18-29
    White men

I am all for you interjecting politics onto this otherwise vapid blog, but if you are going to do so, I suggest you really get the facts straight.

Your post is borderline racist, which coming from a gay latino man, is disturbing.

    Please, check your facts.

  93. Come ON Perez! says – reply to this

    493

Perez, Mario, seriously. Did you read your link? Obama had 24% of the white vote; Clinton had 19% of the black vote. Obama more white votes (at least comparatively, I don't see the hard numbers for the exit polls) that Clinton got black. Isn't that diversity? The ability to reach across color lines? And more than color lines–the ability to reach across socioeconomic class, religion, and more? Are you saying that Clinton had a more "diverse" group because she got had fewer black votes in predominantly black vote state, and so the lack of the black vote means her racial numbers were more even? That's some crazy ass spin there. You going to give up the site and head for the last days of the Bush administration next?

I am a White woman from SC and I voted for Obama today! Yes, Obama! He didn't just win because of the AA vote. Do your damn research you fat ass Prez! He won based on a diverse vote of people. Don't you know that he got over 200,000 people to the polls. Do you know that he got more people to vote than McClain and Hucklbee? If you are going to place information on your site about something this serious, have the FACTS and not the headline scroll from Fox News. People never want to give an AA credit for their success. Give this man credit and take a closer look at Obama. Super Tuesday will shock a lot of you racist in America. YES WE CAN! WE ARE FIRED UP AND READY TO GO!

Team Aniston vs. Team Jolie is one game to taking encourage sides on, but stretching the truth in encouraging Dem on Dem crime is a whole other ball game and, ultimatley, is only going to help the Republicans. )

Well good to hear a vote will not go to the GOP!
As to the Dems - one side is adamant that with Hill in, the GOP will win, and same thing with Barack.
All of this talk makes me REALLY nervous because I want, at long freaking last, something other than another GWB in the White House. Hell, there isn't even a viable GOP candidate anyway in my opinion!
Like I said earlier on, I am withholding any judgement until further on down the road. Time changes things and what is the rage now may not necessarily be so 3 months from now.
I hope at the end of all of this Democrats can come to some sort of peaceful detente and remember to stick together for the greater good.

Hillary had South Carolina until she let her cheating husband take over. African Americans were going to vote for Hillary until they saw the reah Hillary - the negative campaigns don't work - the world needs peace, not dividers. Grow up Perez… remember, you are in the same struggle as African-Americans. Call it what you want, believe you are white or superior because of Miami, but in reality, hang out in Chicago, Milwaukee, South Carolina, Atlanta, no one knows yoy are Cuban, they assume you are a gay mexian and this is coming from a Latina - grow up and realize Hillary will never make empanadas, plantain, or even hang out in Little Havana. she will seize the opportunity when Castro dies to control Cuba and try and Americanize it - don't be stupid.
