Quote Of The Day

sylvester-stallone-holds-um.jpg

“HGH (human growth hormone) is nothing. Anyone who calls it a steroid is grossly misinformed. Testosterone to me is so important for a sense of well-being when you get older. Everyone over 40 years old would be wise to investigate it because it increases the quality of your life. Mark my words. In 10 years it will be over the counter.”

- Sylvester Stallone tells the new issue of Time

Re: Furbie – Oh, and I have taken a controlled ammount steroids for about a year and a half (not HGH) and have NEVER experienced any of those side effects. I need to go to my barber every 2 weeks basically because my hair grows so damn fast and thick. No urinary problems, hallucinations, mood swings (only when i have hardly slept but who doesn't?). etc. They forgot to mention those side effects usually only happen when taking alot of steroids. I only do it to keep toned, I am 175lbs. You have to realize EVERYTHING has side effects. Drinking to much coffee has side effects, eating too much food has side effects, YOU GET FAT. Wow.

Ok.. I saw the movie, and it's good. But Sylvester has some facts incorrect. Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is comepletely different from Testosterone. Human Growth Hormone is meant to make a person grow taller. Testosterone is the male hormone. The only reason why I'm well informed of this stuff is my brother does not have a pituitary gland, he had a tumor on it, and had it removed at 8 yrs old. He had to take Human Growth Hormone when it became legal in Canada to take in order to grow. If he hadn't, he'd still be as tall as he was when he was 8 yrs old. Now that he is 35, he is required to take testosterone in order for him to have it in his body. If he doesn't, he has no body hair etc. These two hormones are produced by the pituitary gland…. so… ol Sylvester has some of his facts incorrect about thse two hormones… granted, as a man ages, the amount of testosterone that he produces does decrease… but he should honestly have his levels checked through blood work to actually see if he requires it. Anyways, thats my tidbit for the day…

Here's my take of the hormone thing:

You basically got two schools of thought regarding hormones. The one school that is paranoid and ignorant about hormone replacement and the other school of thought that thinks hormones will make you a beautiful, young, sexually virile 24 year old again. Sly goes to the latter school of thought.

Both schools of thought are WRONG. When people get to the middle age stage of their life, their hormone levels drop or stop all completely. Health problems arise from that. Those are the people who need MONITORED hormone replacement therapy.

Hormone replacement will never make you the beautiful, sexual powerhouse you were in your youth but, you will be a healthy older person who can have a beautiful life just as exciting and wonderful as when you were 24 years old.

What morons. Many scientists have been studying HGH and the benefits. As you get older, your body produces less testosterone, that is a fact. HGH helps the body produce testosterone. It is being called the fountain of youth, and I agree with him. It will be legal within 10 years, and the pharm companies will hate it. And by the way, no steriods or HGH shrink your penis. Steriods have been known to shrink your testicles. Last time I checked, no woman cares about the size of a guys nuts.

I take the pharmaceutical equivelent of the supposed date rape drug "GHB" that used to be very popular with body builders. I take it for a medical condition. This medicine naturally increases growth hormone production - without all the side effects of the synthetic shots. I feel incredible. It has cured my sleeping problems, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome. I look and feel better than I ever did in my teens. I think there is a lot of good to be done with HGH and I am pleased that i have found a natural substance that naturally stimulates an increase of HGH - unlike the synthetic stuff which you then always have to take because your body produces less and less of the real stuff.

On the contrary YOU are the moron! NO chemicals are good for the human body. You conveniently miss out talking about the side-effects of taking steroids. Do you know how many people are killed every year by toxic pharmaceutical drugs that are put on the market by corrupt FDA officials taking pay offs from these companies in the name of profit? I suggest you do more research on the subject!

I agree with Stallone. If a hormone is low or missing altogether the body feels terrible. Why not try to make things better? Luckily there are doctors that specialize and sympathize and then actually treat the problem. I was wary of "hormone replacement therapy", but it truly made my body feel normal again.

I saw sylvester stallone on tv in an interview and I knew he was doing something, it is one thing for a physician to supervise the use of growth hormone use for those who have deficiencies it is another to take it on your own, people will pay the price one day for taking too much of it

    32. Kristin says – reply to this

      132

      HERE are the facts…

He's right to a certain extent. It can be beneficial to people over about age 35, because HGH (naturally produced in our pituitary gland in the brain) secretion levels decrease as we get older. HGH is mainly responsible for increasing height, but also increasing metabolism, calcium retention in our body, keeping our bones healthy, and controlling our body's sugar and insulin levels. HGH has been known to be abused, however, especially by basketball players who want to become taller (a noticeable feature in this case would be long arms and legs that are not proportional to the body). This is something that needs to be researched by the individual before they go out and decide to take HGH to slow/decrease some effects of aging, as there are several different types of HGH on the market and many misconceptions about it.
