Actually, this was a GREAT movie. and it's BEEN available on DVD. Watch it, you'll love it. I think it's one of her better works. It was an indie type of film, which is why It wasn't in theaters. It's really good Perez

This film is J.Lo's effort to speak out about the brushed-under-the-rug genocide that has been going on in Juarez for over ten years. It's sad that it's going straight to DVD, because whether the quality of the film is good or not, the message is extremely important. It's nice to see a high publicity face trying to use her podium to help a cause that desperately needs the focus.

tis movie came out last year over seas. It's actually really good. Itsd prob going straight to dvd because it centers around a real issue facing hispanics spef. mexicans in mexico. Young women get kidnapped and no one cares. ITS GOOD SO GUYS SEE IT!

its unfortunate because this is actually a good movie. its an eye opener to harsh realities and its definitely socially relevant (much more than Blonde Ambition, i'd like to believe). and i love it when JLO is all rugged!

Antonio Banderas is the costar of this film and thought it was so bad he had his name removed from all publicity materials.

A lot of actors have movies that go straight to DVD. I've seen Lawerence Fishburn, Cuba Gooding Jr., Val Kilmer. The list goes on. How come you never put their movies in these kind of articles or posts? You need some new material that isn't so stupid.

Jay-lo is like ice, always. She has no future in acting.

  17. Regina George says – reply to this
    17

    This is sad!

Unlike JSimp's movies, this could have actually been really important. There are about 4,000 missing and murdered women in these towns, and no one is doing anything about it…….a good movie would have been a great way to bring attention to the femicide.

  18. Mexico's problem not ours says – reply to this
    18

She is a washed up old puta! She should stay home and look after her kids. Obviously no one cares that Mexican women are being killed and kidnapped.

  19. Baron says – reply to this
    19

I think she needs to give up on the acting. The only movie that she was some what good in was "Maid in Manhattan" and that is because she played something that she can relate to… being a maid. People like her belong in the service industry

This movie was excellent! I enjoyed it. I thought she did very well in this movie. It prob is not going to be in theaters becasue it is more of an indie type flick (just my opinion). Now in no way should this movie be compared with Jessica Simpson's movie! That chick couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag. The only movie I ever enjoyed that she was in was Employee of the month and that was only becasue of Dane Cook. I love that guy!

Ok…straight up, I rented 'Blonde Ambition' last night, and there was nothing stupid about that movie…I was a nice, whole hearted romantic comedy that was actually very funny….So….I dont know why you're hatin' so much Peezy!!!! : )

  25. Rose says – reply to this
    25

That's sad that they would do that. No matter what your opinion on Jennifer Lopez is wether you love her or hate her the movie could have shined light on the horrific events that have been taking place.

  26. Martin says – reply to this
    26

Perez shut up dont hate …….. only cause u will never be a movie or should i say STAR!! like her plzzz fat fuck the MOVIE has a great message it really does how about you mention that huh ? TOOL go loose weight instead of rideing a wheelchair how about u get a fucking TREADMILL and videotape yourself their asswipe

  27. Regina George says – reply to this
    27

    Agreed!

The femicide in Juarez hasn't gotten an inth of the attention it deserves. Can you imagine the uproar if 4,000 american girls - from ONE STATE and a handful of towns - were dead or missing?

Perez, as someone who constantly berates Jessica Alba for her comments about her latino heritage, I think its pretty strange that you'd lump this movie with the likes of blonde ambition - especially without saying something about its message.

From what I'm reading about Jlo, she's taking her career in a totally diff direction, she is now producing movies. The three including Bordertown didn't do well, although they may have made money, being indies and all. I wish her the best in producing movies. This movie needed a distributor and PR campaign, that's all. Funny how crappy movies like Meet the Spartans, Saw, Hostel, etc. get distributorship, but "political" message movies don't get distributorship.

It's probably the border cops since all of the Mexican border guards are crooks and work for the drug lords in Mexico that's why it is so difficult to stop the flood of narcotics into this country from that flea ridden country. All of their police are on the take.

  32. julie says – reply to this
    32

LIE!!! THATS NOT TRUE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SOURCES.
Bordertown is like 2 years old, J.Lo and Banderas presented the film (for example in Berlin) loooooooooong time ago. And its not a bad film! I'm no J.Lo fan but you should really recommend to watch it instead of talking that shiz that is just not true!

it is actually running in art-houses here in holland, so i think is actually a good movie. i wouldnt's like to watch it though, there's nothing entertainig about hundreds of women getting killed an no one caught. i've seen employee of the month and it was really funny and hartwarming.

Some of these comments are coming from pure ignorance, and those I can ignore, but I have to make a statement about the comment titled, "Mexico's problem not ours." That's exactly the mindset that has kept this genocide so under wraps for so long. The fact is that in Mexico there is a governmental policy stating that after a crime has remained unsolved for fourteen years, it is thrown out. In the United States we cold case files, which means that at a later time, if evidence is uncovered, the case may be reopened and researched, often solved. In Mexico, this is impossible. If a killer stays undiscovered for fourteen years, he's off, scot free.

FIRST, I HAVE TO SAY, I LOVE JENNIFER LOPEZ.. SECOND, JUST LIKE JESSICA AND KATIE HOLMES, IT'S NOT JUST THEM IN THE MOVIE, IT'S OTHER BIG STARS.. MARTIN SHEEN IS A BIG TIME STAR, SO IS DIANE KEATON, AND QUEEN LATIFAH.. IT'S NOT THEIR ACTING AT ALL, IT'S THE MOVIE ITSELF.. MAYBE IT'S NOT INTERESTING ENOUGH.. WHO KNOWS, BUT WE CANT SAY THAT IT BOMBED BECAUSE OF THEM.. THAT'S SAD!!!

This movie was awesome. I ive in the bordertown of El Paso and it's so sad to read day after day about all the women that are being killed right across from us. Juarez is literally a stone throw away from us and the thought of all the killings so close to us sends chills up my spine. THIS MOVIE IS NO WHERE COMPARABLE TO JESSICA'S THIS MOVIE HAS SUBSTANCE!!

Many Mexican musicans are being killed too. Most recently, three in one month.

  46. katzenklappe says – reply to this

The reason why it goes straight to DVD in the US is that most of you are too ignorant to care about what's going on in Mexico. Aren't a lot of US companies down in Juarez making big $$$? Bordertown IS a good movie and should be watched! Shame on you Perez for drawing such a poor comparison.

  47. Kevin says – reply to this
    47

Instead of all of you illegals coming into our country making demands, why don't you stay home and demand that your corrupt government find these killers. The Mexican government doesn't care either, to them it's just one less poor Mexican woman giving birth to 15 children.

There is no reason for us to pay good money going to the theatre to watch wetbacks getting murdered when we see it everyday on the streets of America. You people didn't even support the movie so it went straight to video, so blame yourselves you dumb wetbacks.

a lot of these movies totally miss the point. Take the Black Dahlia for instance, that movie was boring yet it it could have been better. I don't think the Acting is bad. Jennifer's best performance has been in her breakthrough role as Selena, there she proved she can act. Its sad what happened to these women in Mexico, I could only wish that Mexico had a better justice system.

I've actually been wanting to see this movie. I wouldn't exactly put JLO in the same boat as Jessica Simpson, give JLO some due credit!

The New York Times was the only newspaper to write about the plight of the musicians being killed in Mexico, because no one else seemed to give a damn, including Perez. if those musicians and girls were white Americans, the media would give it 24/7 coverage and the killers would have been brought to justice a long time ago. One pregnant, white Marine was killed a few weeks ago and now the FBI and military police are swarming all over Mexico to bring the killer back to North Carolina to face United States justice.

I already said this but some of you are not listening! go find a site better suited to your stupidy! oh and go ahead and cuss me out a bitch at me all you want it only shows how much of an asshole you are by trying to defend your racist attitudes! Just because what is happening in not happening to white girls doesn't mean it isn't important! It is sad to see people not giving a shit becasue it is not their own race or country going through it. Well guess what….these people are human beings and most people with a heart do care and we don't need to listen to your heartless remarks about wetbacks! get a life and think before you type assholes!

  62. Jessica says – reply to this

Jessica is beautiful and very funny in her movies, she has nothing to worry about. She has loads of opportunities and films in front of her. Jlo has nothing but an ugly husband.

The girls and women aren't just disappearing - their bodies are discovered with evidence of brutal sexual torture and mutilation. This has been going on since at least 1993, and over 4000 girls and women have disappeared. It is tragic and needs more widespread coverage!

Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson are not good comps. Is she a scienotoligist(mispelled) ?

  65. Katie says – reply to this
    65

Well, I agree with Perez in picking on J.LO. She needs a F%$# reality check. The diva airs have gone way up in her head. THAT has nothing to do with her heritage but her EGO, get that right u ppl!!

If she's really into producing and taking her career direction, well that's actually a smart move on her part. Judging by how her last movies and CD have done, America has gotten tired of her. She's extended her 15 minutes to like 2 hours…her time is up. She's sooo done.

  66. Amanda says – reply to this
    66

Instead of getting angry at America and Perez maybe you should put fault where it belongs, the mexican police. They are the lazy bums who are letting this happen because they are not skilled and intelligent enough to find the criminals responsible for this carnage.
