I love what Brad and Angelina do to help others but I can't help but notice how Brad turns into whomever he is dating/married to. It's like he doesn't have his own identity. I digress.       Going to the UN about Darfur is useless. They are corrupt and ineffective. Nothing will get done but at least George will feel good about himself.       According to the New York Post’s Liz Smith, while accepting an award from the National Board of Review, Clooney wisecracked, “Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer's.”

      When asked about the statement, Clooney told Smith, “I don't care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him.”

      Heston wasn’t about to let the indignity go unchallenged. According to the World Entertainment News Network, Heston walloped Clooney by contrasting the actor’s demeanor with that of his late aunt, the singing legend Rosemary Clooney.

      “It just goes to show that sometimes class does skip a generation,” Heston shot back.

      It’s ironic that Clooney, who liberally spouts compassion, tolerance and sensitivity, would use a man’s illness as material for a joke.

      George Clooney has been involved in Humanitarian causes for years. His involvement has nothing to do with Brad Pitt. George has more class and sincerity than Mr. Jolie. I commend George for using his celebrity for good, however, I lost respect for the UN for allowing Ms. Jolie represent them. She is a known, proud hard drug abuser. She is in a position where young people unfortunately look up to her as a role model and she states that drugs are ok as long as you have a positive attitude before taking them. She also makes out with her brother and boyfriends in public. The UN must not be very particular regarding people they use to represent them.

      Wtf are you talking about? The story about Clooney mocking Heston's Alzheimers is absolutely true. I read it in Newsweek when it happened. Looks like you are the one that needs to do their homework. Just to be absolutely clear here, Clooney used a man's deblilitating illness as a subject of ridicule. There is simply no 'more to the story' that would make it less repulsive.

      On the subject of Darfur and claims Clooney is a humanitarian on that issue. I saw the Clooney narrated psudodoc that was supposed to raise awareness on the issue. Clooney was clearly more interested in using Darfur as a political club to been Bush with than he was in raising real awarenesss about suffering of Darfur's people. Seriously, any shred of respect I had for Clooney evaporated as I listened as Clooney repeatedly and erroneously tried to make Bush the bad guy in the doc. For anyone who knows anything about the history of the region and the conflict, the idea that Bush is in anyway the bad guy in this is absolutely absurd. China, meanwhile, who really IS the bad party in this, garnered a whopping two seconds of attention. Literally. 2 seconds. It literally left me with my jaw on the floor. Clooney is a liar and a humanitarian poseur. He's using it to score political points. Period.

Sure it's good that celebrities feel concerned about the situation in Darfur and try to do something about it, but what could an ACTOR - who's just been on a safe little trip to the region - possibly tell the UN that they don't already know? What makes him more qualified to talk about it than trained MSF or UNHCR workers who spend long periods of time right in the middle of conflict zones and risk their lives every single day to do their work? What, its it his acting skills? His money? His celebrity status?

      However, the remarks directed at Heston are important because they are meanspirited and, perhaps, un-American. It is simply out of line to make fun of a person's personal tragedy because you disagree with his politics.

      And then there's the press. Just imagine if a public figure like Clooney had mocked the paralysis of Christopher Reeve or the debilitating condition of Muhammad Ali. The media firestorm would have been ferocious; fear and loathing would have consumed newsrooms everywhere.
