This is soooo awesome!
On December 19th, 2007, we posted this "Listen To This" suggestion.
It was a delightful song by a lovely French/Israeli singer named Yael Naim.
Since then, in a little over a month's time, her song had been chosen to air in the new MacBook Air commercials and the tune, New Soul, has just skyrocketed to #5 on the iTunes singles chart.
So awesome!

Justice?? they've had major blog buzz for over a year and been pretty popular in mainstream since at least this past fall. You've got a knack for discovering silly, singer songwriter female artists. and some male ones. stick to that. and please, NEVER, NEVER write about hip hop. don't even get me started on that.

I do think she's darling…but she's just a newer version of Regina Spektor. I actually thought it was Regina doing the MACair ads! I'm not saying that there's not room for newer versions of something fresh (like Regina), but Coffee House Quirkiness is not enough to override what Regina has already done so well. I wish her good fortune, hope thats enough to avoid the obvious comparisons that will plague her.
