The Oscars Will Go On As Planned - For Reals!

The show must go on!

Despite the still ongoing, but hopefully resolved soon, writers' strike, the Oscars will go on as scheduled this year. The show will air in some form on Sunday, February 24th, despite the fact that almost all celebs won't cross the picket lines.

Backup plans are being made incase the WGA strike is still ongoing during the award show.

The president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Sid Ganis, said Wednesday, "We have an obligation to the art form to present the Oscars, so we have to deal with the possibility of not being able to do the show because of pickets or agreements not being concluded."

Ganis described the two possible broadcasts as "the show we would love to do and… a show that we would prefer not to do".

They should just do the entire show as interpretive dance.

Bring back Debbie Allen!

Yawn. I mean, seriously - when was the last time a truly deserving film won the Best Picture Oscar? "The Deer Hunter" in 1978? It's all so rubbish and logrolling…

Perez, DO NOT EVEN JOKE about Debbie Allen - just reading that made me shudder. Literally - it gave me an immediate uncomfortable physical reaction, and now I feel nauseated thinking about it.

IT IS NOTHING TO JOKE ABOUT (i'm going to be queasy all day now)
Please do not mention her again - ever - please. In any context…

I hear a rumor of black listing if actors/actresses do not show up, this has the potential to be really ugly.

Blah, blah, blah…why don't they present a movie with an original idea or concept instead of the regurtiated bull crap they put out. I think it sucks for the writers and the crew who have been out of work and by now must be financially devasted. Still, I wouldn't mind not hearing and reading about all these self congratulatory awards shows. Every time you turn around, they are giving out awards for something or other…it's just not something the normal person can relate to.
