I'm in Colorado close enough to New Mexico. NM is a bit more laid back, but she's an idiot for those comments. All you have to is ask locals for good places. NM isn't great, but Chili's. Come on, they're overpriced everywhere you go.
HMM. Maybe it's because she isn't *cough* Hispanic, but we have LOTS of great restaurants - but most of them are Mexican food…which I DOUBT she eats! WHATEVER. We aren't LA, but we have a magnificant culture and the best weather anywhere! If she was in a Walmart and not touring Old Town, the Indian Markets or Santa Fe, then no wonder!

Many of these people are contractors of the US govt and as such are highly compensated. We have many restaurants other than your typical franchise. As for Walmart, I don't know anyone who shops at Walmart, especially when there are many better options available. I am still upset that Latina magazine chose her for the cover when she has done nothing but insult Latinos as a whole.
Albuquerque is a great city - I can't believe she would say that! I don't live there but have been there a few times and I enjoyed the original restaurants and shops that they had to offer (and no, they didn't include Chili's and Wal-mart). What the fuck? Albuquerque is a great place to live. It is probably one of, if not THE most diverse city in the country. There is a great gay community, Hispanic community, native American community and we are a very accepting culture because we've all grown up knowing diversity. Not to mention some really great restaurants. You are less then an hour from great skiing and snowboarding, any other outdoor activity you could imagine.

Well you can say what you will but my dad is from New Mexico and he doesnt like to be referred to as latino either. Many of the hispanics in New Mexico are of Spanish ancestry and Spanish are more European then latin American. Not everyone of hispanic descent wants to be Mexican.
