Re: ileana c – ummm the canadians care about the junos….. who the fuck cares about you!!!!

  38. Ashley K says – reply to this

    38

Does anyone even watch The Junos? I'm from Toronto - where they're often held - and nobody gives a crap about them. It's severly outdated, and pointless. Almost just an excuse to have another awards show. It's too small to make a big deal over - which is probably why it looks so ghetto. They should just focus their attention on The Grammy's and leave it at that. A shitload of big name musicians are Canadian, so it's not like we need to single them out. Half of friggin Hollywood is Canadian for fucks sake - and the other half is British, lol…..We can't hold an individual awards show for EVERY genre of entertainment.

Ok, Canada rocks, but you're right about the Junos. Nobody really cares. And I was really disgusted last year, when they basically turned it into the Nelly Furtado show….
But it's nice that Canadian talent is given the proper recognition in the states….thanks Perez!

I am a Canadian and I agree with "F U"……who gives a shit. And anyways ever year the same four Canadian artist are always nominated and win awards, Celine, Rufus, Avril, Michael Bubble. Even KD lang and Sarah McLachlan get awards for doing nada.

    Canadian music sucks!!!!!!!

ugh people who keep saying Canadians don't care, are annoying the crap out of me! when did you decide the thoughts for all Canadians? One nobody cares if you like them or not, and two you dont need to drag down the rest of Canada with your stupidity!
Plus, if you're thinking I watch them and are sticking up for the Juno's, you are completely wrong, I've never watched them in my life :) but that doesnt mean Canada hasn't watched them either babe!

    72

Yes it's true, few Canadians give a shit about the Junos but most of us don't give a shit about any award shows. Let's face it, they're for fags.
Who's to say one record is better than another? It's fabricated bullshit set up strictly for commercial purposes to make all the singers, writers, producers and labels rich so they can all live in mansions and fly around in private jets at our expense.
"Give the finger to the rock & roll singer as he dances upon your paycheck" - Beck
Now if they had an awards show for the worst of the music or movies or whatever, that would be worth watching. Who's got the balls to produce that show?

  73. Canadian and proud of the Juno's says – reply to this

    73

Sure, the Juno's are no Grammy's, but they deserve the proper respect that every other countries musical awards preformances get.
and they are a big deal.
Canada has an amazing showcase of talented artists, and making it to the Juno's is a stepping stone into international music.

  77. Canadians? says – reply to this

    77

All of the Canadians that are bashing the Juno's are fucking morons. Of course, I expect it from Americans, they bash anything that's not American.
But as for the Canadians, the Juno's do not suck. Unlike the Grammy's, artists that deserve to win, win. The Grammy's are decided by a bunch of old men with saggy tits, wow, great award show. Even if you don't care about the Juno's, don't talk shit about something you don't even pay attention to. We should be proud of our music scene and support anything that showcases OUR music. You asshats should just move to the States.

all of you who are dissing this need to shut up. if you think its boring, dont read it. for the canadians who have decent taste in music the junos are amazing. who cant love feist, joel plaskett, bedouin soundclash, wintersleep, and michael buble ? they're our canadian icons… and well, they have much more class than some of the high profiled american icons.

OK, yes Canada has our own problems. In this case, how the hell do we get rid of Celine. And thanks to all of you Americans who so lovingly congratulated our Juno nominees (ie, who gives a shit). And you wonder why you are unpopular by other countries.

Yes, Canadian music does kick ass but the list above barely scratches the surface on what is going on in this country. How the hell are the New Pornographers not on this list?? How is Joel Plaskett only on for song writing? Where are Stars? The Weakerthans? Seriously! This is why they created the Polaris Prize; a prize for actual talent not pure commercial success.

Canadians are always down on their own…especially those with Hollywood-envy, who can't even see the talent in theor own backyard. FEIST IS AN INTERNATIONAL SENSATION! It's OKAY TO LIKE HER. Twits.
And the Junos rock. They're like a less politically-motivated grammies.

    96

I find it funny that while everyone's pointing out how bad the Junos are, no one's talking about how positively fucking awful the Grammys are. When do we ever see the most talented artists getting featured on the grammys anymore? Its all about whos selling the most records these days. America pumps out some great music, but it ain't the shit that's on the radio or featured at the grammys.

As for the Junos, the awards themselves are pretty bad, but at least the Canadian music scene gives creedance to people who actually deserve it (not necessarily in reference to the Junos, but generally in the music press and such). Not something I can say so much for America.
