      The sad thing about this election is that the Democrats field three excellent candidates: It's an embarrassment of riches. Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards are ALL stronger candidates than John Kerry was. And they are stornger, too, than were Michael Dukakis and Jimmy Carter. Though I support Obama — I believe he is a man of great integrity and vision — I also have great respect for Hillary Clinton — and I am sad that she is running in the same year. She doesn't want to wait eight years, but if she does, I'll be first in line to support her — and she'd still be three years younger than (the dreaded) John McCain. But I th9ink ther is urgency for Obama — he is a great role model, a great unifier and a great example for ALL of us people of color. Even if you grow up poor with a single mother like Barack did, this is what you can grow to be: A brilliant, accomplished graduate of Harvard law grad who cared not about making the zillions he could have at a hot law firm, but instead helped inner city youth steel workers in Chicago.
      He is truly an inspiration. So pull up your saggy pants, turn off your music, father your kids. get your GED and go to community college and get to work….

      I had a patient tell me a story about how she met Hillary as a senator at a tribute at the world trade center anniversary. There was a mother in the audience that had her son confirmed dead at the trade center days before the tribute, so his name wasn't on the list.
