I have been watching the Popwreck for some time now and fear that her mental disorder is far beyond bipolar. I sincerely hope that her family helps her to obtain the medical help she so desperately needs. It is so sad to see a shining star of a generation become an American tragedy. But, I do have to give some credit to the paps who managed to entertain all of her personalities until her family got her under the proper medical care. For once, their constant presence may actually have saved a desperate woman from herself.

Unfortunatley she went untreated for well over a year and her psychiatric condition will not reverse itself. She can be stablized with medication but it is highly unlikely that she will ever be the same person she was 3 years ago. Untreated psychiatric disorders leave permanent scares on ones psyche and hers are deeper then deep. That her family had to go to court to get her medical treatment shows how seriously ill she it. If she's able to gain back even a quarter of her former self she can lead a semi-normal life provided she is monitered by caring individuals. Just look at Brian Wilson, it took most of his adult life to find his way back and even now he still remains shakey but at least he came back. Sometimes they never come back.

She’s tragically beautiful…
I hope that if nothing else her illness will bring to the forefront the subject of mental illness and how complete devastating it is. It’s not just a pill fix… It’s not just a few days of rest – It’s completely debilitating on so many levels. In this country we treat mental illness as if someone is just belly aching when really the person suffering is in a completely black hole. I feel like for this to happen to someone so high profile the most positive thing to come from it besides her becoming well and functioning again, is that people will have more compassion and understand for those who suffer this plight.
FYI: The majorities of homeless people suffer from some level of mental illness but can’t get the healthcare they need to truly become well and functioning again. Could you imagine what our country would be like if we could even just take care of this one problem… And don’t even get me started on crime and self medication…
