Very sorry about the storms and the loss of life. A vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain Perez, I really think so. I wish it were not so but I do not think Hillary can beat McCain –do you? please explain it because I just don't see it. All of the Obama voters
will not transfer to Clinton and McCain and crazy Cindy will be our President and Frist Lady. To cover their bases the ticket will be something crazy like McCain & Rice. I hope she can win, but Obama would win — he would win the entire election and that is the point, isn't it?

At least 4 killed in Memphis, 100's injured. Sears' roof collapsed at Hickory Ridge Mall. Also natural gas leak and looting BEFORE first responders could rescue those trapped. Early reports estimate $500,000 merchandise looted. Secondly our FOX affiliate kept apologizing to angry callers wanting American Idol back on TV. Sad, so sad.

You're a class act, Perez. You just gave more attention to the storms than NBC, SEEBS, ABC. They were too concerned about the elections. A bunch of people getting killed in flyover country counts for squat. If a plane had been hijacked it would have been all over the tube. I heard the guy on the Weather Channel say, if you live in a mobile home get out and lay down in a ditch. You are safer there. Outlaw those damn cans! Build them out of used storage containers and mandatory tiedowns. Rant out.

Sara, you are a complete idiot. "Living in the South" doesn't mean that we are the only ones that are affected by mother nature. Where exactly do you live? In never never land where tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes won't happen? Out of respect of the families who have lost children, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, etc……….just keep your uneducated dumbass remarks to yourself.

Re: merrycherry – Dumbass, there are specific natural disasters that can happen just about anywhere, Hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes people still live in those places too. You cant completely protect yourself anywhere from all the possible disasters. When your work, live and have family somewhere its hard to just completely pick up and move, I live in it and my house is fine and has been for the past 12 years.

      FYI, Mississippi was hit too.

    63. Prayers says – reply to this

      63

      A) There's nothing any of the presidential candidates can do for these people. I live in Alabama and while neither me or my family was effected by the storms last night, we've been through plenty in the past. Quite frankly, if I were a victim and any of the candidates showed up to shake my hand or pose in front of my house for publicity pictures I'd be pretty upset. They've done the best they can do by offering their prayers and we thank all of them, no matter their party, for recognizing us.

    64. Prayers says – reply to this

      64

      B) People say we "live in tornado alley, what do you expect?" Do you realize that tornado alley occupies at least a portion, if not all of at least 18 states? Maybe you should run for president and tell all of the residents to move out of the area so that you won't have to feel sorry for them. New Orleans residents knew they were at high risk for hurricanes but nobody blames them for sticking around - or going back. California residents understand the extreme likelihood of fires and earthquakes, but they haven't vacated the state. Natural disasters happen no matter where you live and suggesting that people move away from their homes, jobs and families just to avoid a tornado is asinine.

    69. Prayers says – reply to this

      69

      C) I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with global warming, but to say that a tornado in February can be attributed to global warming alone is a very uneducated platform to stand on. While they're not as common in January and February as they are in other months, they still happen - every single year. They've been happening every year for decades. The fact that you think it's directly related to global warming just shows that you've never read, paid attention to, or cared about the current events of your nation until now.

I live in Arkansas and we had 7 tornados within 20 miles of our house. There is utter destruction in every direction. Alot of the people that were lucky enough to live through the storms have lost everything. Homes, hospitals, schools and businesses have all been destroyed. To the person who suggested that we are stupid for living in "Tornado Alley" should watch TV today. Maybe you will learn the exact location of "Tornado Alley" and how ignorant it sounds to suggest that people stop living there. I can guarantee that the people of these states will be outside, cleaning up the mess and rebuilding what they have lost without screaming for help from the goverment.

You should be ashemed of your comment. Does it amaze you that people also continue to inhabit Calfornia or the coastlines of this country? Disasters can happen any and every where. It is unfortunate, but it is a fact.

Perhaps you should keep your mind on the people who lost so much last night, including loved ones, instead of criticizing the places they've chosen to live.

Re: merrycherry – you're an idiot. I bet where you live you are in the way of a natural disater! Be it huricane, blizzard, mud slide, earthquake, tornado, wind storms, drought. The entire contry is living on or near a natural disater. Those of us that DO live in tornado alley take percautions for our safty and aren't idiots for living here. Some towns in Arkansas haven't been hit by a tornado in over a hundred years. It's a gamble to live here and everywhere else for that matter.

A hospital's ER was distroyed last night in Mountain Home, AR and people lost their homes in Atkins, AR. Not to mention the terror the ENTIRE STATE went through for nearly five hours last night hoping and praying that they won't get hit.

I live in Lebanon (30 miles east of Nashville). I was up most of the night worrying about these storms. They were predicting that the tornadoes were headed straight for us. My sister actually had to stay in lock-down at school (in Nashville) and her bf was forced to stay at work (in Nashville) most of the night. It's hard to explain the terror of not knowing if your family is ok.

This season is always scary for people in the Mid South. Remember a last year when that massive tornado hit Gallatin? It actually got international attention. I'm about 10 mins from there, and you can still to this day see evidence of the storm's horrific path of destruction. Some friends of mine lost everything they had worked their whole lives for. That's a horrible feeling. You cannot even imagine.

Thank you Perez, I am a student at Union University and was at home in the dorms when the tornado hit last night. It was pure craziness. Luckily my side of the building is still standing, although the front wall was ripped off. I am now safe at my parents house, but there is so much destruction around the campus and 45-Bypass area. Please keep all those affected by these storms in your thoughts and prayers.
