This whole situation brings to light the challenge of dealing with mentally ill “adults”.
I don’t know what the answer is, but we as a society need to know that this situation (without the cameras and the money) must be happening to many other families.
So I understand “the threat to oneself and others”, but isn’t there another threshold? What about helping people get better?
I know this is a loaded conversation - I have no idea how this all would be determined. But with the number of homeless people I see, I imagine that they are mentally ill, choosing - in their ill state - not to take care of themselves.

Britney is obviously very ill. I think if she wants to call the help of a religous leader, it's another step in the right direction. Studies have shown that people who have any type of religious belief can actually beat illnesses sooner and more frequently than people who don't believe. I don't honestly think she's calling the priest for an excorsism, but maybe just some counselling.
