We met up with one of our faves on Thursday!
The gorgeous and talented Leona Lewis is in Los Angeles.
The X Factor champ is performing at music mogul Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party this weekend.
We met up with the Bleeding Love singer at her rehearsal and caught up a bit. Leona told us to expect something juicy at the Brit Awards, for which she received four nominations. We will be there in person later this month, and we can't wait.
But until then…..

In her heyday(twenties) Mariah was great and sounded wonderful live, but now that she's pushing forty her pipes are getting strained and rusty and she can't reach the high notes anymore but that's only natural after nearly twenty years of using her vote to crack glass.

The problem with her voice is, it's way too thin. It lacks power and she has poor control. She also cannot belt for the style of music she wants to do and what is even worse is how she screeches to jump into falsettos. Lots of stuff wrong with that voice.
Leona sounds strained when she sings certain songs and she can't sing upbeat songs. She only sings ballads good. I think she's average. If you wanna hear someone who can sing, listen to someone like Tarja Turunen of Nightwish, Floor Jansen of After Forever, or Sharon Den Adel of Within Temptation.
I absolutely love Leona Lewis. Her voice is natural. Yes, she does need work, but no one is perfect. In her new song, she sounds like Sinead O'Connor. I would actually love to hear Leona sing the song by Prince that he wrote for Sinead called "Nothing Compares To You".
Re: Simon Cowell – Nope. She's not nearly as good as Mariah Carey was in her prime. Now, she's better than Mariah now, but then? No way. Mariah could jump from high to low without sounding screechy. Mariah had great control. Leona has poor control. Mariah could belt, which Leona cannot. Leona sings in headvoice and stretches out the consonants for every song she sings and that is so wrong. Leona can only sing ballads good, whereas; Mariah could sing both ballads and upbeats good. Leona doesn't know who she is and Mariah does. There is a big difference. You can pimp her out as much as you want and let's face it, neither of these chicks are a fraction as good as Sarah Brightman is.

For people criticizing Leona's voice… she is still a very young talent and has been quoted as working with a vocal trainer to improve her voice. What we hear now is only a fraction of her true potential as far as I'm concerned, and she already sounds fabulous. As for the thin voice thing, plenty of singers have thin voices, it's just a part of life. It's what you do with the voice that counts.

Leona is not ugly. She has an unique beauty to her. Her voice isn't all that great, but it is far from terrible. No one is perfect and I am sure that all of the people bashing Leona's looks don't look a fraction as hot. If you wanna hear good music by amazing female singers listen to Nightwish (the song Swanheart or watch their live performance of The Phantom of the Opera), After Forever (the song Leaden Legacy or listen to their live cover of Alone), and Within Temptation (the song Stand My Ground or listen to their live performance of Our Farewell). Leona is overexposed, but still better than some of them out there. Rhianna, Ciara, etc cannot carry a tune.

Leona has got a beautiful fragility to her. I watched some of her X Factor performances on youtube and I think she's incredible, but she reminds me of a little foal. slightly uncomfortable in her long limbs and unsure of her beauty. I don't know, Joss Stone's cover of Cry Baby is amazing and she sings Son of a Preacher man really well. Joss is a great singer and she has power in her voice, as well as, a lot of soul. Her version of Under Pressure wasn't that good, but mainly because of the arrangement. I think she's better vocally than Leona, but I think she's a fucker, so she ruins it. Kind of like a white Lauryn Hill. She knows she can sing, so she cuts up on others for their mistakes. No one is perfect. Leona is beautiful and looks nothing like a lion.
Leona sounds like Sinead O'Connor when she sings Bleeding Love. She switches song styles, which is a sign of someone who doesn't know who they are. This also doesn't sell CDs. Leona should stick to one style. I like her singing ballads more than upbeat songs.
I LOVE Leona. She is beautiful and AMAZINGLY talented. That is my favorite CD!
