For reals!
Instead, the company is going to focus on making digital cameras and manufacturing TVs.
Buy your Polaroids and film on eBay. They're gonna be a thing of the past real soon!

for those who have worked in the photography industry this is not news to me, I have been a photgrapher for 3 years and worked in several studios and labs that develop pics, we stopped selling poloroid like 2 years ago and thats when they told us poloroid was phasing out instant film and cameras'

First of all, you need to get your facts together. Polariod will continue production of the product through the end of this year. They're currently looking for another company to take over production of the film, and possibly the cameras. Even if no one decides to produce the film in place of Polariod, Fuji makes the film too, so it's NOT going to be a "thing of the past" just yet.

We should try to convince them to sell it online only because I know one of the reasons it go so expensive was because people were stealing it. This is the worst thing I heard in a long time. Taking away Polaroids is as bad as taking away a painters brush, or a potters wheel. Just because it is not as popular as other photographic mediums, does not make it any less important.

SAD! It's a tradition in my family to take a polaroid of each person on their birthday. We have them all lined up on the side of the fridge like a timeline of us growing. I wonder how long polaroid film lasts? I might have to get my mom to stock up before they stop making it! The film is really expensive though - about $1 per picture.
