The Los Angeles Times is laying off up to 150 people.

Hey, at least they weren't just bought out by Rupert Murdoch!

They would be lucky to be saved by somebody who is actually successful. As is, they can continue to be a failing left-wing rag.

Left wing dying dinosaurs like this ink smear are dropping like flies. Why pay to have some 'rat loving "journalist" tell me how to think? If you subscribe to a paper you are either computer illiterate or a brainwashed soul. I will give those with Alzheimers a pass.

I don't care about this that much because I just watched American Idol and it's the best season yet. I don't know what the judges did this year, but this seasn is great. I am so looking forward to watching it. I am routing for rocker Amanda. She's bank.

Sorry to hear that, but these people are NOBODIES! This site is for celebrity news! If I wanted to hear about nobodies, I would read the regular news.

This is a tragedy but Celeb-Obsessed America is too mindless to care. Less minds that go into the news = less sources…A monopoly on info is never a good thing. What? A few sources can control what the public thinks? BUT they don't even care anyways.
I WANT COMPETITION FOR GOOD JOURNALISM!
I feel I'm being held hostaged in this celeb world…It's become our NEW RELIGION.
Alright I'll get off my soap box now.

i'm so glad you're addressing this on your site! people need to know what's happening in the world outside of celeb mishaps. i'm a student journalist and this is an absolute travesty. the journalism business is slumping, and this is another indication that our generation needs to do something to help it. thank you thank you thank you :)

It's about one in the same, give it time and the "Big 5", which about are three, will be running even you, Perez.

    27. NWAM.23 says – reply to this

      27

It's just about the same, Perez. The "Big Five", is now the "Big Three". Just wait, in two years you will be bought out by millions, and live in a fabulous house with your little puppy. Capitalism KILLS!.

The LA Times was bought out by media conglomerate Tribune Company in Chicago (aka mini-Rupert Murdroc). They've been laying off people at LA Times for the past few years, "to make it more profitable". It goes without saying that the concentration of media into the hands of the few spells a diaster for the survival of a thriving, true democracy.

Thank Bill Clinton! He signed into law the Telecomm. Act of 1996, giving away $72-billion worth of public spectrum for free, and leading to merger mania which has left the USA with the poorest quality, faked, most-laughed-at TV and print news media in the world!

That is why I would never vote for Hillary. She's done nothing to convince me that she's not a Bush I protege, working on behalf of transnational monopolies against the interests of people and the nation as her husband did.
