No no JJ!! Those are excellent albums, with amazing tracks. Everything she does is quality. Take a look at "all night" on you tube or "so excited" they are some hot singles. Then she had some awesome tracks such as Enjoy & "with you" off 20 Y.O. and "truly and "Sexhibition" off Damita Jo. "The music industry is fucked up, and some of my favorite albums never made it to the top of the charts like Mandy Moore new album "wild hope" or butch Walkers "the rise and fall of butch walker and the let's go out tonites".
Fox News got their facts wrong again. 20YO was the flop, not "janet" And I agree with Janet, you can't blame the Super Bowl. Those albums were good, but just not up to her standards — plus they had Jermaine Dupri's dirty fingerprints all over it. It definately was the music. Her voice has no range and is so whispery that it is almost inaudible on her last two CDs. Perhaps it is all the facial restructuring that she has had that is the culprit. The public is so tired of the Jacksons and their drama that have become cartoon characters in the eyes of many. The music was fine and had the SB not happened, they woud have been hits. Just a Little While RACED up the charts until Clear Channel put a ban on her so the song fell since they own THOUSANDS of stations. Mtv wouldn't play her either. Janet's last good album was The Velvet Rope, and it was really good. Part of the problem, I think, is that she's become so OVERLY sexual that it's becoming repetitive and monontonous. She used to sing about other things too.
Also, there may have been some good songs on the last few albums, but it's like she forgot to put the lead vocals on them. That song, So Excited, was kinda good, but she was literally whispering the verses. It's like she was right on top of the mic, whispering, and then they compressed the fuck out of it. She can sing better than that- it's not like she ever really USED her voice, so there is no reason for it to be gone.
Just like Mariah of the early 00's, all she needs is an undeniably hot track, and she'll be back. So far, she has not delivered that. Feedback is a step in the right direction, but not catchy enough.
Her music of late has become tepid. She has to exit if Discipline bombs. No new relases had been considered smash since " Someone to Call my Lover." This makes me even more excited about Madonna's new album.
