So very sad. I hope this doesn't mean Fred Phelps and his band of hatemongers will demonstrate outside the funeral or school.

Oxnard student declared brain dead
Lawrence King, 15, was shot and wounded at a junior high school Tuesday. A classmate faces murder charge.
By Catherine Saillant and Gregory W. Griggs, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers
February 14, 2008
An Oxnard junior high student who was shot in the head by a classmate earlier this week was declared brain dead Wednesday, and the 14-year-old male suspect now faces a first-degree murder charge, authorities said.
Lawrence King, 15, was declared brain dead by two neurosurgeons about 2 p.m. at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, said Craig Stevens, senior deputy Ventura County medical examiner. King's body remains on a ventilator for possible organ donation, he said. He was shot early Tuesday in a classroom at E.O. Green Junior High School.
Authorities initially believed that King was improving. But the boy's condition worsened early Wednesday, and he was placed on a ventilator a few hours later with his family nearby, said an official, who asked not to be named.
David Keith, an Oxnard police spokesman, said the family would have no comment and asked the media to respect their privacy.
Police said the suspect, whose identity was not disclosed because of his age, shot King at least twice at the beginning of the school day and then fled the campus. The boy was apprehended by police a few blocks away and is being held in Juvenile Hall. He is scheduled to appear in court today.
So sad
300th!
How sad. I'm all for expressing your individuality, but at that age….his momma should have said to him, "listen son, there are haters out there, so while I understand we shouldn't suppress who you are - why don't we not be so flamboyant about it and tone down the dressing like a girl a little bit". You know, I mean he's just a young boy and needed some guidance to help avoid controversy. And on the other hand, the other boy's momma needed to tell him it's not his fucking role in the world to try and make everyone conform to his ideas. So fucked up!
fuck madonna
:-(
that is sad. and ALMOST FIRST
*First
So sad ;(
Devistating!!! 2 lives OVER
This is so tragic….Who cares if he was gay. It's his life. People need a serious wake up call. I love you Perez. Thanks for all your hard work……
live and let live people. R.I.P Lawrence King
Goodness me ! This does not shock me anymore to be honest. AND THAT IS SAD!
That's awful! He looks like such a sweet kid, too…
Sad!
I don't want to register with the latimes. What's the story? It there another link?
Breaks my heart!!!!!
=(((
america is fuucked up
So very tragic. I have a daughter that age and it's horrible to know that children that age are capable of such hatred and violence.
Heartbreaking.
What in the world is wrong with people?! Do you really have to shoot someone in the head because they came to school in a dress? Wake the F*ck up people! It does not matter! Live and let live.
You know, those kind of homophobic reactions come from the parents. It's not like we are born with the idea that if someone is gay, they're evil or something. Sad, sad, sad. Why can't we let other people be what they want to be? How does it affect us anyway?
This was making me cry as I was reading the story.
WTF????
Heartbreaking =o(
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP BALLLLLLS!!!!
terrible….
God that's so sad and senseless.
I will never understand why people care so much about someone else's sexual preference. Parents need to wake up, get with the program, and teach their kids the values necessary for life today…not what was ok fifty years ago.
oh how sad this broke my heart. thanks for posting this.
GOD F#*@^N DANGITTT. what has this world come to?!????????
The link doesn't work
That is fuking SICK!!!!! Were is the world going????
Why is this world so scary! WTF this is terrible!
i couldn't read it
Awful. Why? Just cuz he's gay
People who do things like this should really be put away for life. This just seems like a person who would do this again, especially if he is so young. I say try him as an adult. What is happening to us as a society? This is so sad.
fuck you perez hilton bitch ass fuck
How terrible. That really is just awful.
Perez: You stir the cauldron of hatred every day and then dare to ask a question such as this???????????????????????
Im glad you posted this. I live in the area and was directly affected by this tragedy. I know the aunt of the shooter. A totally messed up kid he is. I saw her last evening and she was a mess! I pray for justice and I pray for victims family!
Lock your guns! Dont let them get into the hands of children!
that's really sad. how can someone do that to another person?
poor kid. let's all send him our prayers.
because you're and ugly old bitch
Truly a sad thing that is reality and no matter how far along we have come, there is still al LONG way to go. SOmetimes we make jokes at the expense of others and it is accepted. We need to realize that those jokes root a deeper hate that needs to be educated.
Umm, what?
this is truly sad
this is so sad. where did he get the gun from anyway!??!?! parents need to be more careful!
SICK!
FIRTS BITCHES!!!!!
Thats is just Fricken horrible!!!!!!
and all you stupid people why waste your time writing first on these comments…GET A LIFE, STUPID PEOPLE!!!!
Yes, Perez, this is sad–but you do the same thing to people/actors–only with words. You don't care how hurtful your words are. So you are just as guilty of being cruel and mean emotionally/mentally to people. "Why's it so hard to love one another?" (Madonna)–maybe you should ask yourself why you feel the need to absolutely shred people in your column.
Hopefully someday there will be no more of this….We need to teach our children the value of acceptance, and if that is too much too ask, how about teaching them that judgement is not our right?
FIRST!!!!
that is just awful!!
A hard man is good to love!
because people run promote hatred every day with their bitchiness and judgementalism - you are no different, i am no different - we are the monsters perez
That is really sad…Also sad knowing you cant even send your kids to school safe anymore!
omg, thats insane!
Perez, try coming to Baltimore where this kind of thing happens EVERYDAY. It's not even news here anymore. Sad-er=(
This is such a sad story. I live about 20 minutes away from Oxnard and was shocked to hear something like this happen around our area. This kind of stuff never happens here. I feel so sorry for the victims family AND for the family of the suspect. How do you deal with something like this? Thanks Perez for caring enough to post this story.
Shurup Perez, only cuz your a queer .. if it was just a shooting you wouldnt look twice but cuz he's gay, it … 'breaks your heart' Drama Queen
Perez, i live about 5 minutes away from this school. When I woke up that morning and learned about the event i couldnt believe it.. You never think it can happen in your small hometown but amazes me to realize that hateful events like these can occur anywhere.
I know when I saw this last night I could not help but cry and think what is this world coming to. He was just a kid. It broke myheart even more that he was a ward of the court no family.

i live 10 minutes away from where it happen and it is a very heartbreaking story =/ something this tragic has never happened in this area especially at a middle school. rip
just wait until he gets to jail..
how can a 15 year old guy can do that.. that comes from the family and stupid violent videogames that teach this stupid kids that kill someone is cooler than tolerate them
wow, that's incredibly sad.
and really heart wrenching.
poor kid.
sadness
I fault the administration and counslers for this one. Junior high is a tough place. There is no leeway for difference. Peer pressure is horrible. if you have the wrong haircut, like different music, even don't like football–there is a price to pay. Much less a lifestyle difference. He should have been at a school (and they have them) that allowed this difference or been counseled on the how it would affect others and affect himself. I know that it would cause problems in most junior highs if a male came dressed in drag and was serious about it. No matter how much that person deserves that right. As my son said, It's hard enough being a heteorsexual dork, much less a gay/tranny dork.
FIRST
How teh fuck did a 14-year old boy get hold of a fucking gun!! Serieusly, this is just another sign that you americans should do something! fucking change your gun policy! Jail for anyone, that's not a cop to own a gun!! Sjees
omg ow funniie iz perez hilton 2 bad eez a fat fuka
The parents need to be tried for this as well.
Where did the little bigot get the gun from?
To the person who said that they're glad guns aren't allowed in Canada: Guns ARE allowed in Canada. Where have you been? Canadians just don't use them nearly as much as American's do. But it's a lot easier to get a gun there than it is in America.
omg ow stupid iz it wt da fuk is going on in dat fat fukas mind lol
