George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep are using their star power to hopefully avoid another Hollywood strike this summer!
The A-listers took out a full page ad in trade pub Variety urging the Screen Actors Guild to start talks with the media giants for a new labor contract ASAP.
They mean business!
They're right, though. Averting another strike is in the best interest of everyone.
In addition to saving thousands of jobs and money, it will minimize the amount of reality on TV!

IN his new role as United Nations messenger of peace, George Clooney was playing himself.
That was the easy part for the 46-year-old actor in his high-profile visit to the UN. The hard part was being unable to deliver his message.
Clooney met joked and shook hands, agreeing to have his picture taken throughout the day with scores of curious UN employees.
But several nations, including Russia and France, refused to let him speak publicly at a meeting of nations that contribute troops to the 17 UN peacekeeping missions.
"There are groups that don't feel that I necessarily class up the joint and don't feel that I should be speaking to them," Clooney said later.

I guess I would care if Hollywood put out movies that were worth $11.50 at the theatres. Along with a bag a candy worth $5.50, popcorn worth $6.50, and a soft drink worth $7.50 plus parking if you live in a big city. There is some good television, but most of those are sitcoms with very few dramas worth tuning into.
I am a big fan of Clooney, DeNiro, Hanks, Streep and some of the other actors, but let's face when was the last time you felt good about spending $30 at the movie for yourself or $60 if you go on a date.
You mean to tell me that there are that many original great hollywood big budget movies out there anymore. Face it the only reason movies are setting sales records is because they cost so much to go and see them at the theatres.
I only go and see movies at the theatres if I think it is worth seeing the special effects on the big screen. Besides that I can wait for DVD.

I am a Screen Actors Guild member who has been on unemployment for 3 months and I think the greedy writers screwed everyone in Hollywood for pennies. WE actors received a 2 percent raise last year and inflation was 4.1 percent, why should'nt we strike. I'm willing to shut down the town for a couple of months to screw the writers back. Should we take another contract that does'nt even keep pace with inflation.
