Oasis have trumped The Beatles in a new UK album poll by Q magazine.

The 11,000 people surveyed ranked Oasis' Definitely Maybe numero uno and (What's the Story) Morning Glory number two.

The Beatles' Revolver came in at… #4?

Should we let these poll results be?

It's just a tad ironic that Oasis has cited The Beatles as one of their may-jah musical influences.

So if it wasn't for The Beatles….

But, is Oasis really better???

Oasis has blatantly copied the Beatles from the beginning… the melodies, the glasses, the haircuts… The Beatles turned out multiple albums a year, sometimes creating/recording a song in one day. And those songs are now classics! The Beatles recorded for 8 years and left a WORLD WIDE impact… Oasis has been recording for 17 and although they have had success, in that time, they have not come close to being as inlfuential. Revolver had Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine, Good Day Sunshine, Got to Get You into My Life, etc. C'mon, Please bitches!

Oasis produced two of the best albums ever made. However, that's all they had in 'em was those first two madly brilliant albums. Everything they did after that has sucked.

OK, Oasis had a couple of hits, which hardly receive airplay at all anymore. The Beatles are still being played nearly 40 years since the breakup. You do the math.

Honestly, I'd like to hear anything that isn't heavily influenced or copied from something else. Nothing is truly original anymore. As for the poll, I'm sure you could look at the age ranges of the people who voted in order to get your reasoning for the results. You'll get different results based on what magazine you put it in. The poll was for best album ever by a UK artist…Obviously the Beatles are "a better band" and their body of work will and can't be matched. But when you look at what Oasis did to change the face of not only Music in England in 1993-97… you will find that they are also responsible for changing the way people walked, talked, dressed, drank, etc…. Definitly Maybe might not be the "greatest" album ever, but it is the greatest debut album of all time, and its influence on pop culture in England is still massive and present to this day.

Oasis is a good band with a lot of great songs. Sure, now they don't compare to The Beatles NOW, but who knows how they'll be viewed forty years from now. I have a problem with people immediately discrediting a band just because they're newer on the scene. Really, we've decades of Beatles buildup and worship, with Oasis it's only been about 15 years. I get that rankings sell magazines, but who are these 11,000 people? All that matters is what you like.
I certainly have my favorite bands, Oasis and The Beatles are both included in that. Could I rank them? Those would change from day to day, they all have their merits, they all illicit different feelings, they speak to different moods and periods of my life.
Why let some rankings bother you? Just listen to what you want. Don't be bothered by 11,000 readers of Q, and really don't let Perez effect your musical choices. What, one encounter with Sir Paul and he's a diehard Beatles fan? Laughable, really.
