Everything has been so stanking boring since the writer's strike, and there is absolutely nothing new going on in the entertainment world. We've seen Superman and Spiderman remade a thousand times, next it's gonna be Batman or whatever has the joker in it–American Idol is getting WAYYYY old and lame and they're using record label rejects….. songs all seem to be plagiarized (Avril L), then you have Barrack Obama stealing speeches….I'm bored. There is no proof that they copied this. it is possible for different people to come up with the same idea. the concept is not too unique. I took an intellectual property class and it is not rare for someone else to come up with the same idea. Show me proof that this writer ever saw this show then we can talk of plagiarism.

i saw this movie about a month ago at an early screening & it SUCKS anyway!!! one of the most boring movies i've seen in a while… if you are not familiar with 80's & 90's american flicks, you probably won't laugh at all!

i'm sorry, this is such bullshit…michel gondry is a brilliant director who allows dreams to become reality. first, Be Kind Rewind is far different than that Amanda Show segment and second, what does it matter? I'm a Perez fan but this negative post about a positive movie makes me think twice. you should be encouraging creativity in the industry, not chastising it.

they're nothing alike at all. the Amanda show sketch is about immigrants who dont understand the concept of a video rental store and make their own bad versions of movies, which all their customers hate. In be kind rewind they accidentally erase all of the videos and have to recreate the movies, and the people who rent them actually really like the recreations and they become really popular. The amanda show sketch and the movie are really completely different. The only similar aspect is the whole "making your own version of a movie" thing, the stories are totaly different.

It's nothing new to plagiarise a storyline from a preexisting show/film. There was an Australian film called 'Strange Bedfellows' which was totally copied in the film 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry'. Both had two straight men pretending to be gay and kept them as being firefighters!

That's not plagiarism. It doesn't even violate copyright laws. You can't protect an idea…only the way it is expressed. I think they're both completely different expressions of similar, and extremely generic, concepts.
