Kabbalist Health Scare

Ashton Kutcher's A-list friends were recently exposed to the hepatitis A virus at his NYC birthday party two weeks ago.

According to a source at the New York Board of Health, one of the staff members working Ashton's party at the Socialist restaurant just tested positive for hepatitis A.

Heppy birthday!

The birthday revelers included Asston's wife Demi Moore as well as Madonna, Kate Hudson, Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Roberto Cavalli and Ivanka Trump. Raisin face, Rachel Zoe, joined the gang later in the evening.

The New York Board of Health is urging all of Kutcher's guests to get tested and get Hep shots.

    I'm sorry, but how exactly do the two correlate (the worker having hep and the possibility of others contracting it)? I mean, how do you pass along hepatitis A? I guess obviously if the worker had been peeing or deliberately spitting in their food (gross) but otherwise how else can you contract it?

    Wow this is sad. Hope it's a false alarm. Hep A is an inflamation of the liver. Spread through hand contact and sexual contact. It's contracted through food when hands aren't washed thoroughly. An inflamed liver has difficulty breaking down food, so it swells and causes jaundice in the whites of the eyes and skin. Usually occurs in highly populated vicinities. NY? I'm not surprised. We've had a surge of Hep A here in SF, as well.

Bartenders don't wear gloves like kitchen staff sometimes do so it is pretty scary. I would be getting a shot asap if I was in that bar anytime when this guy was working.

    The person probably just found out that they had it and didn't know at the time of the do, but what a shattering story if it turned out this was some crazy person trying to take down a bunch of celebs.     Any type of hep can be contacted with any type of fluid. Sharing towels, soap, razors to shave with, tooth brushes in the same holder. Anything that fits in this catagory.

    Hepatitis A is transferred through fecal-oral route (i.e. food contaminated with feces, etc.). Generally, Hepatitis A is a self-limited disease with no long-term effects. In contrast, Hepatitis B & C are transmitted through blood and sexual contact and can lead to chronic infection and liver disease.
