Aaron Carter was busted by police for drug possession midday yesterday.
The former pop star was stopped by the coppers for speeding in Kimble County, Texas. A subsequent search of his Cadillac Escalade turned up about two ounces (56.7 grams) of marijuana and he was taken to a local jail in the town of Junction, where he is currently behind bars.
Carter spent the night in jail and is due in court this morning for his arraignment.
We're surprised it took Aaron this long to get arrested.

Ah, Americans and their bizarre drug laws. Where I live, no cop is going to bother arrested you for marijuana possession unless you're growing it or carrying like a pound of the stuff all split up in baggies, with obvious intention to sell. Most of the time they just confiscate it and send you on your merry way.

For everyone saying "2 ounces is not a big deal," in most states you can get charged with intent to distribute if you have just one ounce. Two ounces is a big deal to police. Plus that IS a lot of pot! He'll probably just have to do a lot of community service though.

Well Texas is definitely the worst place to be caught with 2 oz. He's most likely going to get a little more than probation, which is what a lot of people get for a first time offense for small amounts. Don't speed in small towns in Texas! Especially if you've got stuff on you!

I grew up in Junction and the stretch of I-10 through Kimble County is known for drug busts. FYI-the cops love to make bust and put your picture along with the drugs on the front page of the small paper.

This story is a plain example on how our Marijuana Laws in this country are ridiculous. Alcohol is a drug..People die from it..yet it's legal. Who the eff' dies from Marijuana? Police need to crack down on harder drugs.
