A Los Angeles county commissioner is attempting to pass new legislation - dubbed "Britney's law" - that aims to crack down on those paparazzi that are out of control..
Well, LAPD chief William Bratton thinks that's a crock of shit.
"What we need is Britney Spears to stay home instead of traipsing all over town. That would solve the problem. We don't need additional laws…. I've got laws coming out my ears to deal with this issue.
What you have is several young women in this town and several young men basically making fools of themselves and tying up not only my resources but the resources of the media that would do better covering legitimate stories instead of a bunch of airheads running around out there….
Quite clearly some of these characters so favored by the paparazzi are clearly in need of services. Not police services, but psychiatric services.
We agree with the Chief - to a point.
Yes, these celebretards are partly to blame, but you gotta face the issues at hand. Though we wish they would, they aren't gonna get all boring and stay home. They live for the attention and you gotta deal with it.

It's not only that they are craving attention. Celebrities can't be expected to just sit at home all day. Everyone goes out, grocery shopping, clothes shopping, shoe shoppings, partying. Everyone does it! Not just celebs. Just because they are known all over the world for their singing, acting, dancing whatever, that shouldn't mean the paparazzi get to be in their faces with cameras, yell shit at them to get a reaction, or even just block their cars from moving. I agree the law should be passed.

Regardless if the celebs want to go out or not, it is their RIGHT. I agree as well to a point, that Britney is NEVER at home, and if she would just stay home a bit, it would help. But she also has the right to shop whenever she wants, she has the right to go out to dinner. The paparazzi indanger not only the celebs, but the locals of due to the highspeed chases, blocking traffic and disrupting every store/restaurant they flock to. It should have been illegal a long time ago.

To be honest I see what this guy is saying but it sounds like he's got a major problem with these celebrities. If he has such issues with them then shouldn't he be chief in some other state where theres less celebrities seeking less attention? I don't completely agree with the way some of these famewhores go about getting the public's attention but at the end of the day it is part of their jobs to be in the public eye and in the papers, maybe this guy should stick to doing HIS job and stop making mean comments about people he doesn't even know.
