A spokesperson for the Academy Awards is speaking out about why Brad Renfro was omitted from the Oscar's "In Memoriam" tribute.
“It was really an editing decision because we can’t fit everyone in,” says a rep for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “There was no specific reason.”
Is that a good enough excuse?????

It is a horrible excuse. They showed more than one shot of some people and that could have easily been cut down. What was their excuse for leaving out Roy Scheider? That is an even worse omission!
Hmmm…it's a bit of a kick in the face but it's probably because he died of a drug overdose. I guess the academy didn't want to show the memory of someone who used and abused illegal drugs and killed himself because of it..I mean, that's the only reason I can really think of…But who knows. Who cares. They DID come up with a pretty lame excuse though.

BULLSHIT - they left him out because he was trouble, history of drugs and arrests and died of an overdose - Heath got mentioned because he didn't have any "known" history - Hollywood is so hypocritical - look, the kid had problems but he was an actor, a very good actor and should have been acknowledged, would have taken 2 seconds out of their bland show - Here's the shame, if Lindsey Lohan (God forbid) would have died of an accidental overdose you know they would have mentioned her, but she has a history of drug/alcohol problems and been arrested - I guess Brad went to far because it was heroin, not nearly as acceptable as coke….

brad renfo hadn't done enough, he wasnt a credited actor, but they still should of shown him, but its not that big a deal to be honest, maybe if he was more serious about acting and less interested in partying he would have got a nod, however if that's the case he would still be alive

NOT to be disrespectful of those that the Academy honored- but WTF? His life was cut short just as horribly as others- is the snub because of the drugs? Or let me be specific- HEROIN? He's just as dead no matter how he got there; one sad thing- drug addiction is a fact of life. And it is everywhere, and I love those in MY life (family and friends) who are gone because of drugs. We might not love the decisions they made; that doesn't mean that we don't love them.
the reason they didn't include Roy Scheider is because the "deadline" (no pun intended) that the person had to have passed away by was Feb 1st. They clearly showed that at the beginning of the tribute. Roy died Feb 10th. He'll be on it next year.
