Ellen Gets Political

dsc00527.jpg

Oprah Winfrey has lent her support to Barack Obama.

And, now….

Ellen DeGeneres is tossing her hat into the political ring as well!

The funnywoman joined Hillary Clinton via satellite on a campaign stop Monday night.

Click here to check out Ellen's appearance.

SO funny!

Reason number 863 I won't vote for Hillary. Ellen is a delusional carpet muncher. She copies her comedy style from Bob Newhart. It's tired and already been done over and over.

Ellen is free to support whomever she wants to support just like Oprah has the right to endorse whomever she wishes to endorse. Ellen could have said her piece earlier but she chose to do it now. I'm guessing Hillary (in 07) felt she had the nomination in the bag and didn't need Ellen's endorsement, how things have changed. I see nothing wrong with someone throwing their weight behind a political candidate. The problem arises when you depend upon a television personality (Ellen or Oprah) to determine your views on leaders that can affect your pocket book.

I agree that polititians shouldn't be using celebrity endorsements, but you can't argue with the fact that it works. Unfortunately, people in general have become much like a herd of sheep that could be led in any particular direction without reason. I was disgusted when Oprah promoted Obama. I honestly think that she believes she's god or something.. Stretching her talk show host role a bit far. At this point, Hillary has to get celebrity endorsements to keep up in the race. The sad fact is that people use that as a deciding factor.

    42. ?????? says – reply to this

      42

Do you know why Oprah is a Obama fan?? Because she would look like more of a lesbain if she supported Hilary, also, she is losing her african american fans base, so helping support Obama helps to quite both of these issues. What is most amazing is that this is the first time that Oprah is turning her back on powerful white women. The worse is that Oprah always supports woman's rights, but at the first chance she gets to back the first woman president she pulls her support in favor to what is good for her image. To me it seems Oprah is out for Oprah and who can bring her the most $$$, she is such a hyprocrit!!! I think she is a closet lesbain and conservative?!?!? Maybe her and Mann Coulter should get together!!!

      49

I wonder if this means that Hillary is sending the message that gays and lesbians are real people, too, who deserve recognition as full-fledged humans, respect as such, and equal as such under the law? I always use a sound stable position on women having control over their own bodies (non-legislating of morality), and on gays & lesbians being treated as 100% equal human beings under the law and in society—as the two litmus tests for a candidate. No candidate is sound and stable yet.

      50

of course a lesbian is going to support a lesbian.
after Hillary loses she should come out of the closet and dump her pretend husband — he just brought her down anyway and made a fool out of on the way. Well, he's half of the problem, the other is the wicked witch herself.

Actually, Ellen hasn't endorsed Hillary. Barack Obama was on the Ellen show a while ago and Ellen seemed to really like him. Also, Perez doesn't know that Hillary voted for the War in Iraq. Obama was against the War from the start. Did you know that? Also, every poll shows him beating McCain, while Hillary loses to him. I'm a Democrat and I'm voting March 4 in Ohio for Barack Obama.

    66. sela says – reply to this

      66

The Debate should be about policy and not celebrity endorsements. Ellen and Oprah have the power of bringing greater name recognition to the candidate. For someone as unknown as Barack was the endorsement of a celebrity allows him to be recognised. Hillary was a president's wife for 8 years, the whole world knows who she is and I'm not sure what Ellen could actually do for her. The important thing is understanding what each person brings to the table, if you base it on any other criteria you're misguided.

    71. Sen.Barack Obama says – reply to this

      71

Hey, Hillary supporters, don't you want a DEMOCRAT to win the next election? Consider this, and then please, reconsider who you want to support… A new Des Moines Register poll in Iowa shows Sen. Barack Obama would beat Sen. John McCain in the general election, 53% to 36%. However, McCain would beat Sen. Hillary Clinton, 49% to 40%. Iowa is expected to be a competitive swing state this fall. This is just one example of how much more popular Obama is, and how he can draw from moderates in a way that Hillary won't. And it means much more than the presidency! With Obama at the head of the ticket, polls show we will pick up Senate seats that we will lose with Hillary as our nominee. And how about the Supreme Court? Do you really want McCain to pick up to 4 SC justices, or for him to determine our environmental policy? After the last two elections, let's put personal feelings aside, and support the candidate who can WIN…Obama '08.

Hillary campaign finances are embarrassing, Hillary has ran the dumbest, most extravagent, most wasteful campaign ever and it doesn't bode well for her CFO credentials. If Clinton wants to talk about blowing a surplus, she started January with 19 million more dollars than Barack Obama and was a 30 point national favorite. Now $104,000,000 later she is 7 million in debt and losing badly/

      89

When it gets bad and you're losing badly, just blame the media. That way you can't blame yourself. And that's the problem. HRC problem is her own. Her shrill "Shame on you," lecture won't resonate with voters–she seemed like a shrewish wife yelling at her husband for not cleaning out the garage or admonishing the dog for peeing on the carpet. It turns people off. Obama gives voters a reason to look forward. Do I think he's going to accomplish everything he is proposing? No. But I do think he'll work to improve this country. And with optimism. Our greatest leaders evoked the good things that were possible about America. And to me Obama represents that. Hillary just screams and mocks.

The Clintons came into the campaign expecting a coronation. Kudos to the democratic party for showing the Clintons that no-one owns the platform.

Hey Jaguar Jism for once I agree with you Joe Biden should have been the Democratic Candidate for the job but, as usual the Democrats do not use their best and strogest asset! This race should be immpossible to lose for the democrats but the way they got it set up it looks like they have a good chance of losing again. Sometimes I wonder if this country has a pryer???????????
